~2009~

It was a beautiful and quiet morning at the Henderson family household. Light snores emitted from the master bedroom that belonged to Matthew and Heather. With his arms outstretched above his head, his eyes closed shut. Matt lets out another quiet snore before he shifted onto his left side. His am subconsciously reached out to the space next to him, reaching for his wife's waist when his hand landed softly on the mattress.

Slowly opening his eyes as they adjusted to the soft ray of sunlight that peeked through the blinds. He lifted his head up slightly from his pillow and saw that his wife was not lying next to him like she always did.

CRACK!

Matt turned his head towards the bedroom door. He tossed the covers off his body and leapt out of bed. He ran out of the bedroom, towards the source of the loud noise. He raced down the stairs and slid into the kitchen

He looked over at the island they had in the middle of the kitchen. Furrowing his eyebrows, he was confused when he saw his youngest son, Steve, sitting on a bar stool, holding a cup of coffee along with a stack of chocolate chip pancakes right in front of him.

"Steve? What-"

Steve glanced over his shoulder. With a shake of his head, he signaled to his dad not to talk. Matthew was taken back until his eyes traveled over to the stove. Heather bustled around the kitchen with an apron on. He could heart her quietly mutter to herself as she threw the broken pieces of a plate into the trashcan.
