After grabbing their jackets and umbrellas, Madison and Diego joined everyone in the hall. Luther opened the door, everyone filed into the courtyard. Rain pounded against their umbrellas. With his right arm around Madison's waist, he held the umbrella in his left over his and Madison's head. She snuggled closer in his side.
Madison glanced to the left. From a few meters away stood Ben's statue, raindrops glistening off of the figure. Madison remembered seeing on the news years ago about Ben dying. She didn't know much since Diego was very hush-hush about the topic and she never pushed him on it.
Madison tore her eyes off the statue, it settled onto Luther who clutched the glossy urn in his hands.
Grace looked around at them as they all settled around Luther, registering their mournful expressions and black attire. She frowned. "Did something happen?"
Everyone glanced over at Grace, with confusion mixed with sympathy on their faces. "Dad died," Allison reminded her. "Remember?" "Oh." Grace's concerned expression contorted into a sorrowful one as she looked down at the ground and quickly nodded. "Yes, of course."
"Is Mom okay?" Allison wondered aloud as she watched their mother. Madison glanced up at Diego, he shifted uncomfortably. "Yeah, yeah, she's fine," Diego reassured her as he looked over at Grace, his eyes examining her small grown. "She just needs to rest. You know, recharge." Madison took Diego's hand into hers and squeezed it three times. He squeezed back three times. He was grateful that she was here with him.
