School had finally finished, and both Chan and Felix wished to leave immediately; even more so than usual. Throughout the day their group of friends had bombarded them with questions as to their relationship — of which they thankfully created backstories for beforehand. They were both exhausted, to say the least.
"Gosh," said Chan, as he slumped his bag over his shoulder once having walked over to Felix. "They didn't hold back, didn't they?"
The younger boy laughed - a bit short on energy, though. He shook his head. "Nope," he responded with, popping the 'p'.
"Should we erm... Head back to yours?" asked Chan, as he lightly rubbed at his nape.
"Sure," Felix said. He prepared his things and soon the two boys made their way out of the school. As they were walking, they did not expect to hear an all-too-familiar voice shout behind them.
"Chanlix! Yah, Chanlix!" it said. They recognised the voice as Jisung's, followed by barrels of laughter from the others. The two Aussies were extremely confused, yet turned around immediately.
As Jisung, Jeongin and Hyunjin approached them, Chan hastily pulled Felix close; wrapping his arm around the younger blond's rather small waist. "Heeeey, guys!" he said as they finally approached; dragging out the 'hey' in order to seem more casual. On the contrary, it earned Chan four strange looks; yet moments later Jeongin was speaking.
"We wanted to say bye to you guys before you left—" said the youngest, in a melodic voice before he was cut off by Hyunjin.
"Nonsense. We wanted to know if you two were going to hang out," he said, in an evidently relishing manner. This caused Jeongin and Jisung to lowly roll their eyes at Hyunjin.
"Yah, you noob! We said we were gonna be subtle!" Jisung exclaimed; Jeongin nodding in agreement.
"Um, no? That's what you said," retaliated Hyunjin.
In the midst of all this, Chan and Felix exchanged a look of disbelief; the tumultuous behaviour of their friends continuing even after school. The argument between the three boys went on for a moment longer until they were silenced by Felix, who exclaimed a clear "Guys!" in hopes of quietening the three. He was successful; as they immediately shut up and looked at him.
"For your information. We are going to hang out. Chan's coming for dinner at my house," he said, pointedly; sighing loudly at the end as he unconsciously leaned further into Chan's side -- clearly exhausted after such a long day. Chan nodded in agreement before looking at them. "We will let you know how it goes, okay? We'll tell you everything tomorrow, so please, please try not to blow up our phones with texts," he added, pleadingly.
The three boys exchanged quick glances between each other before reaching a final hum of agreement. "Fine," said Jisung. "But," he added, "You tell us every single detail," he said, slowing down his words for effect. Yet his voice was nothing short of serious. Felix huffed before nodding.
"Yes, we will." The three boys grinned; faces full of satisfaction.
"Good. Have fun!" they each exclaimed.
"Have a nice time, Chanlix~" said the youngest; causing Chan to almost splutter.
"Chan...lix?" he said; his voice filled with shock and confusion. Felix's expression mirrored Chan's own, quite accurately. This time, both boys had received strange looks from the others.
"Um, yeah?" said Hyunjin; his tone almost patronising.
"It's your ship name, duh," said Jisung. Both Chan and Felix did nothing for the next moment except blink. Slowly.
"Yeah..." said Felix, before continuing: "Because, we're together... So, like... We're shipped..." he said, voice laced with realisation despite sounding rather unconvincing.
Hyunjin clicked his tongue before shaking his head. "Just go enjoy your dinner, weirdos."
Minutes later after goodbyes were exchanged, Chan and Felix made their way to Felix's home. Once they had settled and were more relaxed, they lazily flopped onto Felix's bed. "God, we had break today but even then we didn't get to catch a break," said Chan; the younger blond soon nodding as he huffed rather dramatically.
"I could just crash right now," he said; the older boy chuckling softly as he agreed.
"Me, too."
"So!", exclaimed Felix as he sat up. "My mum isn't gonna be home for a couple of hours so we can... Erm..." he said before his voice trailed off, clearly not having thought out his words. Chan laughed before he sat up, proceeding to ruffle the younger blond's hair.
"It's okay, Lix. We could play video games?" he suggested. Felix's face lit up at this, grinning brightly. Yet before he could answer his facial expression seemed to drop.
"What's wrong?" Chan asked; evidently concerned as he placed his hand on the younger boy's knee.
Felix looked away before shyly mumbling: "You'll think it's dumb." To this, Chan's eyebrows furrowed.
"I'm not gonna judge you, Lix," he said; in a truthful and comforting manner. Felix sighed before looking at Chan.
"I suck at video games. As much as I hate to admit it, Minho says it - and he's right - Minho is right. In that sense only, of course."
Chan thought for a moment, his eyebrows no longer furrowed. "I'm not exactly the best, either," he said, hoping to lighten up the younger boy's mood once again. "Playing against Changbin is a different story, though," he added, before chuckling; successfully evoking a laugh from Felix, too.
The younger boy nodded: "Sure. Let's play."
Two hours later, Felix's mother had came home to see Chan leaning back on the sofa, with Felix resting against his chest as they mindlessly played a video game of some sort. Both boys were way too relaxed to have even heard the door opening; yet this was much to the favour of Felix's mother as she quickly snook a photo of the two before clearing her throat to alert them of her presence.
Quickly, Felix and Chan had scrambled to their feet on seeing Felix's mother. They both regained themselves before looking in opposite directions; their cheeks casted with a tinge of light pink. She laughed quietly to herself before speaking. "Hey, boys," she said — which earned two bright responses. "I'll just freshen up then we'll proceed with dinner. You can tell me all about yourself, Chan — and how this came to be, of course," she said. 'This' clearly referring to the new-found relationship of the two boys.
"Of course, Mrs Lee," he said; grinning warmly at her as he did. She reciprocated his facial expression before heading upstairs, leaving both boys alone again.
"So..." said Felix. "I am so so so so so sorry if she asks embarrassing questions! It's kind of her thing!" He pointed out, practically pleading at the older boy. Chan laughed before providing Felix a sense of relief by flashing him a soft, small smile.
"It's okay, Lix. My mum is the same," he said, casually, before realising his implications and spluttering on his words; eyes widened. "Not — not that I mean you'll be meeting my family, too! I — of course you will! If we're — y'know..." he exclaimed hastily.
Felix nodded slowly before his expression morphed from confusion to content. "It's okay, Chan. We're fully aware of what we've got ourselves into." In that moment, both boys looked to where they heard a trail of footsteps descending. It was going to be a long night.
