Much to Felix's dismay, the weekend had gone by way too fast. After spending a whole day with Chan and proceeding to spend the rest of his weekend exchanging frequent texts with the older boy, Felix had only come to realise that it was Monday again. It was once again 6:00am. And, yet again, he had school.
He eventually got up —
unwillingly, at that. Felix only dreaded one thing today and one thing only: the interrogation. His phone didn't blow up with messages or calls from his friends after his date with Chan and their lovable Instagram posts, so there would definitely be an interrogation from them during the day.
Once Felix was ready (having decided to wear high-waisted black shorts and a striped t-shirt with sneakers) he prepared himself breakfast. It was a simple meal, just toast. This is because, frankly, Felix was not exactly the best cook. In addition, he did not usually have much time to make himself a scrumptious breakfast.
On closing the fridge from retrieving one of his favoured drinks (chocolate milk), Felix had noticed a pastel pink post-it note:
Good morning, my dear son! Hopefully you're up and eating a filling meal as you read this. I'll be back a bit later than usual, tonight. Don't wait for me to eat, there's some dinner I already made for you that's in a container in the fridge yet you probably missed it. Heat it up when you get hungry. Lots of love! - mum
Felix sighed happily to himself before grinning. He looked once more and the food was indeed there. What Felix would do without his mum, he would not know.
Soon enough, Chan had arrived; both boys heading off to school.
On arrival 20 minutes later, Chan placed his arm around Felix's shoulders as they made their way into the surprisingly-immaculate building. Throughout the first three periods that morning, both boys had noticed their friends struggling to contain such excitement.
So by lunch, they held hands rather tightly as they braced themselves for what was about to come. As they sat down, Hyunjin was the first to chime in; immediately jumping up from his seat. He spoke just as energetically as he acted. "Oh, hey, Chan! Mind if Innie, Jisung and I borrow Lix? Thanks!" Before Chan could even answer, the three boys were already pulling Felix away from the others.
His eyes widened as he knew what was about to come for Felix - and then himself. He slowly looked at the two pairs of eyes that gleamed with mischief. "So, chief," said Changbin. "Tell us everything."
Once Felix and the others were no longer in sight of Chan, Changbin and Seungmin, they stopped pulling him along. Jisung clapped his hands excitedly before speaking; Jeongin and Hyunjin wearing smiles that beamed ever so brightly. "So, did you kiss?"
On hearing these words, Felix's eyes widened like never before. He was pretty sure he began to choke on air, completely taken by surprise. "W-what? Kiss? No!" he exasperated. Jisung and Hyunjin gave him a questioning yet playful look; Jeongin sighing softly before placing a hand on his hip as he spoke.
"You can tell us, Lix hyung," he said, voice calm in hopes of easing the shock for Felix. In that moment, as he caught his breath, Felix realised he had dreaded the wrong question the whole time. Not 'How was it?', but rather the whole question centring on a kiss. He exhaled through his nose before he spoke; voice quiet yet firm.
"No."
That was all he said. To be truthful, Chan and Felix had not planned that far ahead in their fake relationship. Their mission was simply to irritate Minho, yet now Felix had realised that they must focus on the finer details — or it'd never work.
The smile on the faces of all three boys had faltered as they pondered on Felix's vague response. After a moment, Jeongin spoke again. "Did your... breath stink?" he asked.
Felix's face morphed into disgust. "No!"
Jisung then hummed, building on Jeongin's idea. "Did his breath stink?" To this, Felix dramatically rolled his eyes.
Yet before he could speak, Hyunjin snapped his fingers; proudly smiling. "I know what it is." The other three boys had turned their attention to the smug blond, who quickly retrieved something from his pocket.
"This, Lix-ah, is none other than candy floss lipgloss," he said as he slowly twirled the small tube around between his fingers. "Aka, the kissing magnet." Felix didn't know how to react, his eyebrows were furrowed and his lips were pursed. He glanced at Jisung and Jeongin, yet they both seemed to mirror Hyunjin's own mood.
"This baby has gotten me so many make out sessions with Changbin," continued the smug blond; with absolutely zero filter.
Felix groaned before speaking. "I didn't need to know that, Hyunjin!" he exclaimed. Yet the addressed boy payed a lack of heed to this reaction as he spoke again.
"Wear it. Then Chan won't be able to resist a kiss," he said, dramatically puckering his lips after - evoking a laugh from Jeongin; whereas Jisung playfully rolled his eyes.
"I don't usually say this, but I agree with Jinnie, Lix," he said. "You should try it."
Felix hummed, his eyebrows still furrowed as he questioned this deeply. He doesn't really want to kiss Chan - or have his first kiss in school - but if it's with Chan then maybe it won't be so bad, he conflicted. Eventually, he broke the tense silence with a sigh. "Why not."
Five minutes later, all 7 boys were now seated in the lunch hall. Jisung, Jeongin and Hyunjin subtly exchanged smirks with each other each time they noticed Chan glance at Felix's lips. The smell of the candy floss lipgloss wasn't overpowering; but it was prominent - in terms of scent and visibility; Felix's lips now shinier than before.
Both Chan and Felix soon began their own conversation between the two of them; Felix gulping subtly each time he noticed Chan glance at his lips. Maybe Hyunjin was right. Would this work?
Neither of them realised their proximity throughout their conversation - not until Felix could feel Chan's breath; and Chan, Felix's. They did not notice how all of the others on the table had quietened, watching them intently. Both Chan and Felix felt nervousness eddying in their stomachs. This was really about to happen.
Felix almost backed away, that was until he glanced away from Chan to notice Minho on a table not far away, watching them. Felix noticed how Minho seemed tense, his jaw clenched; not focusing on Woojin's conversation or anything else except the two Aussies.
For Felix, that was the push he needed. So he closed the gap between Chan and himself; pressing their lips together slowly as he lacked in experience of such affection. Thankfully, Chan returned the kiss; it lasting a minute longer before both boys pulled back. Chan then gave Felix a look - a glint in his eye signifying he knew what Felix saw and why he did what he did; causing the younger blond to relax.
"Candy floss lipgloss," Hyunjin whispered to Felix. "Isn't it just a blessing in disguise?"
