Chapter 13 - double... what. (part one)

It was a tiresome Friday afternoon, proven by the exasperation of Felix's sigh as he slouched onto Chan's shoulder; unintentionally shifting more weight onto the older boy than he intended to, yet Chan was hardly bothered. Instead, he chucked at the actions of the younger blond. "School is so dumb, Channie. Why is it so hard?" Asked Felix, pouting after.

Chan shuffled in his seat, noting how the chairs in their school were not exactly the most comfortable forms of seating they could be provided with yet both boys were too tired to care. He rested his head on Felix's gently before speaking. "I don't know, Lix. Guess they want us to do well," he suggested.

This caused Felix to huff in evident disagreement with the idea, as he pulled his phone out of his pocket. "If you ask me, it's a capitalist society," he, in turn, suggested. Once more, Chan laughed light-heartedly at the younger Aussie's antics before noticing on how when Felix swiped up on his phone screen; his music app showed 3racha - a small group consisting of none other than Chan himself, alongside Jisung and Changbin - was last played. Specifically, their latest track 'Double Knot.'

"Hey, Lix?" mumbled Chan softly as he steadily caressed the younger boy's free hand. He earned a 'hum' in response; causing him to proceed, by getting rather close to Felix's ear and whispering 'Double Knot on my yeezys' - causing Felix to laugh - much more livelier than before.

As he laughed, Felix's cheeks turned an ever-so-slight shade of pink due to their close proximity, and how Chan's breath on his skin made him get goosebumps.

"Don't judge me, your music is really good. I swear, your music teacher needs to give you guys more credit," said Felix in a matter-of-fact tone as he sat up before resting into Chan's side again.

"You bet he does," responded the older boy.

"In fact, you guys need a break," said Felix; facing Chan as he did. Yet, before the older Aussie had a chance to respond; an all-too-familiar voice had chimed in.

"I agree! We do need a break," said the voice that turned out to be a rather happy Jisung. Chan and Felix faced him; both boys making eye contact with Minho who stood adjacent to Jisung.

Felix's hand gripped Chan's tighter on noticing how Minho and Jisung's own fingers were intwined. "Hey, Sungie," said Felix, trying to act joyous. Yet both Chan and Felix knew that when Jisung grinned in such a bold manner, he had a plan.

"We were wondering if you two would like to join us for a double date?" inquired Jisung. Not only did Chan and Felix's eyes widen somewhat at what they heard, but Minho's did, too. It seemed that for once, Felix and Minho were on the same page. Yet, Jisung payed no heed to any of this as he continued. "It's tonight, actually. Meet at my house. Oh, also it's at 8pm," he said before grinning. "See you there!" he finished with before pulling Minho out of the library.

Felix spluttered on his words, finally being able to react. "Double date?! Chan, what! Tell me I heard him incorrectly!" he exclaimed.

However, Chan, himself, could not find the ability to respond until a minute later. "I..." He sighed, "I really wanna say you misheard, Lix..."

"No, no, no!" Felix pouted. "I don't wanna," he whined, additionally; burying his face into Chan's chest.

The older sighed, before gently running his fingers through the younger's fluffy hair. "Me neither, Lix. But... Think about the pros," he said as he slowly pulled Felix back to listen.

"You get to dress up all fancy, and you love that," he said in an uplifting manner. "Also, we could take this as an opportunity to annoy Minho together, we can act all lovey-dovey for like three hours. Imagine how well our plan would be working then."

This caused Felix to ponder, momentarily. He didn't actually focus on the pros of the situation, which is why he then thought he truly does need Chan in his life. The older boy brought a great sense of realism into Felix's life and that, he needed.

Finally, Felix looked up at Chan; making steady eye contact. "Fine...", he mumbled. "But we're coordinating outfits!" he added; in a much more cheerier tone than seconds ago.

Chan laughed as he nodded in agreement. "Sounds perfect."

"So, we'll go to your house and get some clothes then go to mine and we can get ready. It's... 3pm now so... I've got plenty of time to get ready," said Felix in a rather focused
manner.

"Yeah, because you take hours," joked Chan, unable to withhold a laugh. To this, Felix gasped; playfully yet somewhat seriously - not taking it to heart, either way.

"Maybe I do, but you can't deny when I'm done I look like a work of art," he stated; voice laced with nothing but playfulness. However, on hearing those words, the older boy paused. It was true. He couldn't deny that Felix indeed looked like a masterpiece each time they dressed up to go out. Yet he also looked cute in lazy, comfy clothes, too. Either way, Chan thought Felix was truly beautiful.

"You know what..." he spoke, "I can't deny it." The sincerity that Chan's words carried - the seriousness his tone carried - was all enough to make Felix blush as he leaned back, slightly.

He did not expect such a bold; yet soft response from the older boy. "Thank... Thank you," he responded; withdrawing from eye contact as he fiddled with his fingers, instead; the blush heavy on his cheeks.

"Anytime..." responded Chan, still carrying the same, bewildered tone. Felix laughed slightly, hoping to ease the tension for himself.

"So... shall we go?" Finally, Chan snapped out of his trance-like state as he nodded; his own cheeks turning slightly pink.

"Let's do this... this double date," he said. And off they went to prepare for a long, long night ahead.
