Saturday had come, and Felix could not help but glance at his phone almost every two minutes as he watched some random kdrama. He was waiting for Jisung to FaceTime him, so he could help choose an outfit for the older, ecstatic boy. He tried to convince himself to look past the fact that his best friend was going on a date with his annoying cousin, yet it proved to be a significant struggle for the blond Aussie.
Moments later, a tune he was much too familiar with had flowed from his phone; causing him to adjust his seating as he accepted the call. "Lix! Oh, my god!" said Jisung before taking a breath. "I'm so excited! But nervous, too!"
At this, Felix gave him a soft smile. "It'll be okay, Ji. As long as you don't look homeless. So let's sort out your outfit. We've got a good amount of time, until Chan picks me up."
Jisung laughed lightly at Felix's humour, still feeling nervousness despite doing so. Half way through finding Jisung an outfit and mindlessly discussing other topics, the air fell silent before Jisung braced himself to ask the younger boy a question. "Hey, Lix?," he asked; voice lingering at the end. At this, Felix sat up straighter; a sign of attentiveness as he encouraged for Jisung to continue.
"I'm... I'm glad you're okay with this," he said. Felix's eyebrows furrowed slightly as his mind pondered on the vagueness of his best friend's statement.
"Okay with what?," he questioned. Jisung took a deep breath before he adjusted the position of his phone, showing his full face.
"Me going on a date with Minho...", he paused before resuming, "I know it might not be ideal for you but I'm glad you're okay with it now."
Felix responded almost immediately. "Of course," he said; making sure to add a soft smile after. Yet, as he thought, Felix couldn't help but feel bad for Jisung. He was Felix's best friend; and here Felix was: hating the boy he was soon to go on a date with. He sighed quietly to himself, not wanting to alert his best friend of his prominent dilemma.
Once they were done, Felix had gotten ready in more comfortable clothing for when Chan picked him up; it was a casual meet-up - or date, to their friends. Seungmin and Jeongin had thought the idea of casual dress was cute - a sign of comfort in their relationship; yet a 'fashionista' like Hyunjin attempted to agree to disagree.
Felix wore Chan's grey hoodie - now having a (growing) collection of his favourite clothing item of the older Aussie's; alongside black sweatpants and slides. On getting in Chan's car once the older boy had arrived, he noticed that Chan's outfit was almost similar to his own; the older boy wearing a loose black v-neck t-shirt and grey sweatpants - slides, too.
Felix grinned as they greeted each other, both boys sharing a warm silence before they made their way in hopes of finding a good place to eat lunch. Eventually, they settled on McDonald's. "I can't believe you haven't had Maccas since you moved here!", said Chan; voice nothing short of disbelief.
This caused the younger Aussie to laugh as he responded. "If it's not as good as it is back home then you owe me one."
To this, Chan playfully rolled his eyes before mumbling a soft 'whatever.'
They chose to go to the drive-thru, settling on eating in the car as both boys were far too lazy that day to get up and go inside. "So, you really made him carry all those clothes? Wow, Lix. I'm impressed," said Chan as they ate; laughing after.
In Felix's eyes shone a mischievous glint before he spoke. "I know, I'm fabulous like that," he said before shooting the older blond a playful wink.
They stayed there until they had finished; afterwards resting in a comfortable silence. Yet this time, when Felix sighed, it did not go unnoticed. Chan placed his hand on the younger boy's knee before he spoke. "That's like, the sixth time you've sighed in the past four minutes. What's up?" he asked; tone ever so soft while his touch ever so gentle.
Felix fiddled with the loose strings on his - Chan's - hoodie before looking at the older boy; clearly upset. "I... I feel bad for Jisung. He thinks I'm okay with him going on a date with Minho and I lied and said I was... but I'm not, Chan. It's irritating."
After listening to the younger boy speak, Chan was truly able to see the guilt Felix had felt; unconsciously rubbing his fingers gently on the younger's skin in a soothing manner.
"Lix... you can't blame yourself for this. You didn't know they were gonna go on a date until Minho sprang it up on you. It's not your fault," he reassured.
Felix thought carefully about the older boy's words before nodding in understanding. "I'm just... Stuck between a rock and... An annoying cousin," Felix concluded; causing Chan to chuckle softly at his way of words.
Yet, moments later the older boy's expression morphed into seriousness. Chan didn't know why, but it was rather hard - and took some time before he could get out his next words. "We can... We can stop this, if you want." He knew what reaction he expected; but truthfully it wasn't the one he wanted. However, he didn't expect to Felix hug him ever so tightly; followed by a chorus of 'No's.'
"Are you sure?" asked Chan. Seconds later, he found the younger blond placed on his lap; making strong eye contact.
"I'm sure, Chan."
At this, the older blond couldn't help the colour of his cheeks turn to a light pink before he proceeded to speak. "I'm... I'm glad. It would've been awkward if you said no because this is for you," he said as he reached carefully into the glove compartment; only to retrieve a CD in casing.
Felix's eyebrows furrowed as he took hold of it. "For me?" he asked; looking up at the older boy who nodded.
"Yeah... I made it. Some songs I've had for a while and... I thought you might like them," he said; shyly to say the least.
Felix looked down at the CD then back up at Chan, not hesitating to hug him tightly once again. "Thank you, Channie... This is so kind of you... I love it!" he exclaimed.
"I hope you do..." said the older boy, softly, as he watched Felix excitedly inspect the CD. Secretly, Chan was glad that he could not find an ounce of guilt on Felix's face in that moment. He was glad he could help Felix forget he was stuck between a rock and... An annoying cousin.
