Alex's pov

Theo let go of my arm and straightened his tux. I hid my bow and arrow behind the bar, where is accessible but where no one knows its there.

"We need to blend in, we look sketchy." I whispered looking around. Everyone else was mingling and we were just standing here all stiff.

"How do you suppose we do that?" he let out a frustrated breath of air and looked over in my direction. "Well you made me be your date, so dance with me." A smile was growing on my face when I saw him tense up.

"No way." he shook his head. "Fine, I'll go find Jordyn. I'm sure he would love to dance with me." I shrugged turning away from him.

"Wait." he said in an annoyed tone. I turned back in his direction and he held out his hand reluctantly. We walked towards everyone else who was slowly swaying back and forth to the slow song playing.

He rested his hands on my upper hips and I rested mine around his neck. "Not so bad huh?" I asked smiling and he rolled his eyes again. "Unbearable actually." he tried keeping a straight face but a small smile was creeping upon his lips.

"Fine, it's not so bad." he admitted as the smile grew. He looked down at me, and for a tiny second, he looked to be enjoying himself.

"If you were anyone else, I would say that you're genuinely enjoying yourself," I spoke making him blink a couple of times, like he was trying to snap himself out of it.

"Enjoyment would mean emotions, and all emotions do is distract you." He replied bluntly, stepping away from me. "What are you doing?" I asked as he started stepping away from me. "What we came here for, the mission. I'm going to go look for anything suspicious, I'm sure you'll be fine standing here. Maybe go find Jordyn, he seems to feel plenty." he added before walking towards the exit.

I scoffed and walked back towards the bar and ordered a drink. In the corner of my eye I saw Jess  with a folder in her hand. She also had her phone pressed to her ear talking quietly.

I saw her look around and walk towards the opposite way of the party. I grabbed my bow from behind the bar and followed her. I stayed far enough behind her so that she wouldn't know, but enough for me to see how sketchy she was being.

She entered a side hallway where no one was, it was dead-ended. I saw her pick up the phone and call someone again.

"I found the files." she began and my stomach dropped. She has to be the mole, I knew she had something off about her.

"I'm not worried about her right this second. It's not a good idea to get her right now, there are too many people around." she paused for a moment. "Fine I'll go find her." she replied to the phone, sounding annoyed. She hung up the phone abruptly. I knew she was talking about me.

"Found me." I spoke coming around the corner, her eyes went slightly wide. "So you know." she spoke up. "I figured it out." I responded shrugging. "Congrats Alex, you're not as stupid as I thought you were. Still weak, just not as stupid." she laughed walking closer still holding the folder.

"Just drop the folder, and let's go." I responded in an annoyed tone. "Not gonna happen." she laughed. I held up my bow and quickly placed an arrow over it.
