Alex's pov

I explained everything to Theo about there being a mole here, and why I made him show me his tattoo.

"How are we supposed to figure it out?" I asked standing up from his bed. "Well, we need to look for anything suspicious. But Larce is probably right about them being here for you since he mentioned the rival gang." he nodded.

"What's everyone's issue with me?" I asked again, mainly to myself. "Beats me, I don't see what's so interesting about you." he responded sarcastically.

"Anyway, if they're here for you then you need to be extra careful. We don't know how serious these people are, or their intentions with you." he began. "You're going to be my date to the ball, so go ahead and get dressed. I'll be at you door around 9." he added standing up.

"I never agreed to that." I objected holding my hand up. "I don't recall asking." he smiled. "After earlier I'm surprised you aren't begging me to be your date Allie." he smirked walking closer to me.

"Nope, we aren't doing this again. And don't call me that." I laughed moving out of his way. I walked towards his door so I could go get ready.

I opened it and he stopped me before I could leave. "Am I really that bad?" he asked looking into my eyes. I don't think he's joking. He looks kind of hurt.

"No Theo, you're not. You have your moments. I'll be ready at 9." I kissed him on the cheek and his eyes went wide. I walked away smiling to myself.

I did my makeup, way more intense than I usually do but not too over the top. I curled my hair down my back and took two front pieces back.

I slipped on the giant ball gown hazel brought me. I mean it wasn't huge but it was bigger than any dress I've ever worn. it was stunning.

I glanced in the mirror one last time, I haven't looked this good in a hot minute. I slipped my heels on and slid a few hidden weapons anywhere I could in my dress. I need my bow and arrow close by.

I heard a knock at my door and I opened it a moment later, but it wasn't Theo it was Jordyn. "Alex- woah." he began, his eyes were wide.

"Yeah. I can clean up nice when I want to huh. Did you need something?" I asked looking at his outfit. He had on a regular tux and a bowtie.

"Just wanted to check up on you. I'm surprised you're even going to this thing, it's so not Alex." he laughed, and I smiled too.

"Yeah, well I guess tonights an exception." I smiled. "Well, I'm gonna head to the ball. Save me a dance." he smiled kissing my cheek before he left.

I walked back over to the mirror and studied myself again.

"You should curl your hair more often." Ethan looked at me with a smirk. I closed my locker and rolled my eyes. "Keep a curling iron at your house and I might." I teased him. I stay at his house almost every night anyway.

"Do you want a house key?" he asked more seriously, out of nowhere. I looked at him kind of shocked, that's like.. serious. "Or not, that was kind of rushed." his face turned red and I giggled.

"If that's what you want, then you can make me one, it doesn't matter to me. I'll love you with or without a key." I laughed, leaning up and kissing him gently.

"I wish moments like these lasted forever, you know?" he smiled putting his forehead on mine. "Me too."

"Are you okay?" I heard someone ask snapping me out of a memory. "Uh, yeah." I lied, fake smiling. I did a double-take looking at Theo. He had an all-black tux on. It looked so good on him. His tattoo looked like a piece of art sitting on his neck.

He walked over to me and handed me a single rose. "Wow, if you keep acting like this I would actually think this wasn't just a mission." I teased setting the rose on my bed.

"Are you ready for this?" he asked with a serious expression looking down at me. "I have to be." I half smiled, walking towards the door and he followed.

-

We made it to the entrance of the ball, it was gorgeous. There were gold and black decorations hung everywhere. Theo and I accidentally matched the decor.

He held his arm out for me to take, and I smiled. "Let's do this." he let out a breath as we entered. Larce has really outdone himself, it looks great in here.

I scanned the crowd looking for anything out of the ordinary, I haven't seen anything yet. I saw Hagen approaching us and I smiled.

"Hey, Alex, you look great." he complimented me. "So do you Hagen." I responded and he smiled. "I know this is a sensitive subject but have you spoken to Eth-" he began and I squeezed Theo's arm harder by accident.

"Don't say it." I shook my head stopping him. "Sorry, I'll get to the point. Have you spoken to Landon recently?" he asked looking away... nervously maybe?

"Um no, why?" I laughed a little. "He just hasn't returned my calls recently." he shrugged turning away. Wait, since when do they talk?

"Wince when do you two talk?" I asked, smirking. "We kind of started seeing each other behind Eth- the guys backs.." Hagen admitted with a huge smile on his face. WHAT?

"What! Oh my gosh, that's so cute!" I squealed and he started blushing. Don't tell the guys, or I might get punched again." he laughed.

"I won't, i'm just shocked more than anything. I'm so happy for you though." I smiled rubbing his arms. "Thank you. Have a good time tonight Alex." He sent me a smile back and walked away.

"So who's the person you keep forbidding people to speak of?" he asked looking over at me as we walked towards the bar. "Don't worry about it." I spoke quickly not making eye contact with him.

he let out a breath of frustration and let go of my arm.
