3 weeks later, October 29th
"Are you coming to the Halloween party this year?" Jackson asked waving a paper in my face. some college guy is throwing a massive Halloween party, he does it every year.
"Yeah, you should come. its super dope every year." Grayson smiled down at the picture. Ethan looked at me with a smile on his face also.
"Sorry I can't. I promised paisley I would take her trick or treating." I nodded and they smiled. "no need bestie, I have that covered." I heard a female voice behind me and I turned around. "what do you mean el?" I asked confused.
it's the Saturday before Halloween, it fell on a weekday. Everyones setting out their candy tonight, so I figured I would take her.
"you have been taking care of paisley nonstop for a month, you deserve a night out." she grabbed the paper from Grayson and he rolled his eyes. "Elena that is my job now. I'm her guardian, im not supposed to get breaks." I looked at her with a slight smile.
"I don't care. tonight I will take paisley out and you will go be a teenager and be irresponsible. you deserve a night off after everything." she shoved the paper in my hands and I smiled. "you're the best, you know that?" I hugged her and she hugged back.
"ill send you pictures of her in her costume." she laughed turning around. "don't forget to put her crown on! she doesn't like it but at least get a picture of her with it please." I yelled as she walked down the hallway and she nodded laughing at me.
"so what are we going to be?" Grayson smirked at all of us. "okay, where's Landon?" I asked. he hasn't been around lately, im assuming its because of Hagen. he came to Dani's funeral and was really helpful. he's a really good friend to me.
"its senior year, and he's playing like every varsity sport there is. he's getting scouted like crazy, so he doesn't have much time to hang out." Jackson shut his locker and turned back towards me.
"back to the costumes guys." Grayson whined, and I laughed. "batman." Grayson's eyes lit up, gaining the idea. "superman." Jackson's smile grew as he picked his outfit idea.
"Since we're sticking to dc comics, ill be the huntress. aka the badass Helena Bertinelli." I smiled proudly and the guys nodded, agreeing with my choice. "matches you perfectly." Grayson nodded.
"well, I guess its only right for me to be the green arrow then." Ethan laughed letting his hands fall to his sides. "really?" Jackson asked and I furrowed my brows. "what do you mean 'really'? Oliver Queen is a total smoke show." I laughed, recalling the show me and my brother used to watch together.
"okay outfits planned, ill shop after school." I looked down at the paper and started trying to talk myself out of it. "be back at the house by 8, we'll leave then." Grayson looked at all of us and I handed the paper back to them.
"okay. see you after, have a good day." I smiled at all of them and turned around walking.

I hopped out of my jeep and ran up to Ryan and Elena's door. I already got into my costume, but I wanted to see paisley before I left. my costume was a black leathery one piece with a mask going across my eyes. sexy, but dangerous at the same time. I love it.
I opened the door slowly and saw Elena finishing up with paisleys costume. "there's my little princess, literally." I laughed walking up to her. I didn't put my mask on yet because I wanted her to at least recognize me.
"awex!" she yelled running up to me with her little candy basket. I fixed her crown that was kind of lopsided and she made a pouty face. "do I have to wear this?" she whined and I laughed. "yes baby, it makes you look even more beautiful." I smiled and rubbed her face. her lips curved into a cute smile replacing the frown.
paisley is good with talking, its just some things she can't pronounce yet. it's so cute to me.
"thank you again for this Elena." I smiled hugging her, and she giggled. she stepped back and smiled, but then her facial expression changed, she turned pale and I furrowed my brows. "are you okay?" I asked and she held up her hand.
she ran over to the trashcan and began throwing up. I ran over to her and held up her hair for her and she stood back up and wiped her face. I grabbed her a water bottle and a wet cloth and handed it to her. "thanks." she responded.
"you okay Ewena?" paisley asked quietly. "she's fine baby, her tummy is upset," I responded softly and she nodded.
"I'm fine, must have been something I ate." she tried to play it off but I shook my head. "you need to go to a doctor. this has been going on too long." I looked at her expression and she nodded. "tomorrow maybe. tonight is about paisley." she smiled.
"are you sure you're up to it? you don't have to. I can tell the guys never mind and I can take her." I offered and she shook her head. "no, and speaking of, it's already 8:20, you're late." she responded pointing at the clock.
"oh, crap." I groaned and grabbed my mask. "ill go grab the rest of her stuff." Elena spoke walking into the other room. I slipped my mask on and turned to paisley to say bye. she backed away from me and looked sort of scared.
"what's wrong baby?" I asked and she pointed at the mask. I took it off and she looked relieved. "when me and mommy were in the car, a man had that." she spoke slowly, trying to get her words out.
"did he hurt your mom?" I asked and she nodded slowly. "a bad man wearing a mask hurt your mom?" I asked trying to clarify. she nodded her head and began to look upset.
"hey, princesses keep their head held high. you don't want your crown to fall do you?" I smiled lifting her chin and she nodded.
"all good." Elena smiled bringing her a jacket. "el can I talk to you for a sec?" I asked quickly. "paisley just told me a man with a mask hurt Dani that day in the car. maybe there was more to the car accident then we know." I let out a breath and she furrowed her brows.
"great, add that to the list of things to figure out." she shook her head. "anyway, don't worry about it. you and her have fun tonight and text me when you get home safely." I smiled.
"give me a hug princess paisley." I smiled holding out my arms and she opened hers widely. she hugged me tightly and kissed my cheek. "love you awex." she smiled grabbing her candy basket. "I love you too baby girl." I smiled walking towards the door.
"Get a bunch of candy for us!" I yelled before heading toward my car.
