Chapter Five: Hellfire

Mitsuko screeched with joy as Ren splashed her with water. She giggled, splashing her back. Ren ducked out of the way tactically, the water hitting Takeru in the back instead. He turned around. Mitsuko gave him a nervous smile. 

"Ah-S-Sorry!"Mitsuko told him. He grinned wickedly at her and started splashing. Mitsuko laughed, trying to avoid the water he'd thrown at her. She splashed back at him. Takeru chuckled, dodging it. Ren laughed, jumping on Mitsuko from behind while she was distracted. The two of them went under. When they came back up, Mitsuko laughed and coughed some of the water out of her lungs. She breathed out, sighing. She felt her lungs ache a little. I might go take it easy for a minute...the others don't need to worry about me if my asthma acts up all of a sudden, she thought. She turned. "I'm gonna go to the cliff!" She turned, wading out of the water. 

"Oi! Running away, are you?!"Takeru called. Mitsuko turned around and stuck her tongue out of him. He made an annoyed look and started towards her. She squeaked and hurried out of the water, moving to her towel. She quickly dried off and moved, going to climb up the rocks. Takeru sighed, shaking his head as he watched her. He made sure she didn't slip from the rocks any, feeling a strange surge to protect her well up inside of him. He sighed hard. 

"Oiiii! Take-Take!"a voice called. Takeru turned, spotting Apollon far out in the ocean. He waved at him. Takeru sighed, starting back into the water. Mitsuko climbed all the way to the top, finding no one else up there. She sighed and sat down on the rocks, her legs dangling over the cliff's edge. I know this is dangerous, but oh well! Mitsuko thought. She let the warmth of the sun fall on her and leaned back on her hands. She turned her face up to the sky, closing her eyes.  Mitsuko heard footsteps coming up the rocks but didn't turn. 

"Mitsuko,"a voice called out. Mitsuko turned. Hiromi was standing there, pulling an earbud out. She beamed and happily waved Hiromi over to her. Hiromi sighed and started walking up the cliff further, meeting Mitsuko at the top.

"So, still don't know how to swim?"Mitsuko asked. Hiromi gave her a surprised look. Mitsuko chuckled. "Number one fan here." Hiromi sighed and nodded. She took a seat on the rocks beside Mitsuko, looking out over the cliff. Her eyes traced the sparkling water. "It's pretty amazing up here." Hiromi hummed, keeping quiet. After a moment, Mitsuko looked down. She smiled to herself. "Hiromi-chan...I like Hiromi-chan better than Hiro-san." Hiromi jolted beside her. Mitsuko smiled softly at the waters, a different smile than she usually showed people. "You're a lot better when you're you and not on stage or in interviews, you know? I always thought Hiro-san was cool, but missing something." 

Down at the rocks, Takeru had started climbing up them. He'd seen Mitsuko swinging her legs off the cliff, and couldn't help but worry about her. After he'd watched Hiromi climb up the rocks to her too, he felt they really shouldn't be up there alone. Part of him was only doing this because Ren had actually asked him to go get them down from there, but the other part...He didn't want Mitsuko to fall off the edge or anything. That would end badly. 

"Thank you, Mitsuko-chan,"Hiromi murmured. Mitsuko beamed at her. She stood up and stretched.

"I'm going to go swim...want to come back down with me?"Mitsuko asked. Hiromi shook her head.

"I'll stay here a while."

"Alright! Be careful on these rocks, they're high up,"Mitsuko told her.

"Oi! Brat!"a voice hissed. Mitsuko turned, seeing Takeru down part of the way on the rocks. He made a face at her. "I bet you can't swim faster than me!" Mitsuko suddenly got a wicked smile on her face.

"You're on chibi!"Mitsuko retorted. He growled at her. She took off, waving at Hiromi. "I'll see ya! I'm gonna go win!" Mitsuko turned and worked her way back down. She started to wobble on a loose rock and Takeru grabbed her hand, steadying her.
