Chapter 16
My stomach turned. Isabelle looked down at her hands and nodded.
“I’m going to pay the bill, and then I’ll wait in the car. Come out when you’re done” I said, coldly.
Isabelle’s eyes watered, I looked away and walked towards the waiter. I paid the bill and walked out the restaurant, without glancing in their direction. I sat in the car and rested my head against the steering wheel. Why would she call him on our anniversary? She knows how I feel about him, yet she called him. That thought hurts me the most. I can’t even look at her as she walks out the restaurant with a sad smile. She rubs her hands and arms for warmth as she gets into the car. I lean forward and put the heat on in the car, instantly her body relaxes. I start the car and head to her house.
“Why are you taking me to my house?” she whispers, her voice cracking.
“I think it’s for the best, we leave for Florida at 5 tomorrow, and I’ll meet you at the airport” I say, with no emotion.
She nodded and rushed out the car.
It took everything I had to not turn around and take her into my arms to assure her I love her and make sweet, passionate to her and watch as she calls my name twice, coming undone beneath me. I want her to know how much I love her; I want her sweet familiar scent blanketing me as I fall asleep with her small perfect body curled around mine. The drive home takes longer than usual; I miss two turns adding another ten minutes to the drive. My mind wanders through all the happy memories Isabelle and I shared. We came out the cinema, hand in hand in the afternoon. A man covered in dirt and stunk badly approached us and begged us for money, I kindly said sorry and walked away while Isabelle scowled at me and gave the man a twenty dollar note. My heart grew bigger as she smiled at the beggar, when he reached out to shake her hand I could see her cringe slightly, she still shook his hand. When she walked over to me she winked before rubbing that horrible mans scent on my face. She giggled so I threw her over my shoulder and smacked her ass. She wriggled on my shoulder; I held on tighter and spanked her so she would obey. Her face was red with embarrassment by the time I reached home with her still on my shoulder. She begged me to put her down but I refused and purposely smacked her in front of an elder couple who looked at us in both shock and disgust. I made love to her that night and she forgave me. When I met her mother the next morning my heart melted. She was the sweetest woman I had ever met; she made me the most delicious omelette I’ve ever tasted. My taste buds tingled after each bite. I cleaned up after myself and she gave me a kiss on the cheek while praising me on how I am wonderful for her daughter and way better than her ex boyfriend Jason who she didn’t adore much; that made me smile and warmed my heart. I fell in love with her mother instantly as well as her little sister Amy who is 5 years old and James who is 5, they may not lookalike but they are the both as adorable as each other.
A car horned pulling me out my thoughts. I turned to see I was holding up the traffic, angry drivers gave me the “look” as I parked in my driveway. I rushed upstairs, collapsing on the bed. I was frustrated with Isabelle, how could she do this to me. I tossed and turned in the night. It was 2 in the morning; I had to be at the airport for 5. I double checked the bags I packed and lay back in bed. My thoughts turned to Isabelle; she looked devastated when I dropped her home. I could hear the hurt in her voice when I told her I’d meet her at the airport. What If she doesn’t show up? What if she doesn’t want to go? Will she still love me? Would she go back to Jason If she doesn’t come to Florida? I run my hands through my hair and close my eyes, pushing all thoughts of Isabelle away. Just when I thought I found peace, the doorbell rang.
