The week was up and Friday had arrived. My anxiety were super high and there wasn't a single thing I could do to fix it. I mean honestly it's a little unnerving when you find out that the guy that is planning the camping trip, could be a rapist. I mean it's all alleged at this point, but it doesn't help me calm down. Nothing is helping right now."Hey, you okay? You look really spooked." When Andrew spoke I looked up and slowly realized that I had been sitting here with him the whole time. We were working on some stuff for botany, and he asked if I would help him figure out some of the labels.
I replied once I was completely back together, but he was still looking at me as if none of what I said made sense.
"Are you okay? If you're not going to speak, I can ask someone else." He said sliding his science books towards his backpack.
Oblivious, and mute. I honestly thought that I answered him, I should try again. "No, sorry. I'm fine, I was just thinking about this camping...... party...... thing." I laughed as if it was normal behavior for me, but I felt like he could see right through it.
"Ugh...., speaking of the camping trip, I was wondering if you had made plans to hang with anyone?" He looked down and then back up at me realizing what he said. "Not cause I wanna hang with you, just cause some of the guys are planning on going to the top of the rock to jump off the first or second night. You know tradition and all."
"Can I ask you something?" I looked at him from the corner of my eye to see some of his facial expression. "Can you tell me what happened that night?" He sighed and stood up, which made me feel bad about asking.
"I'm sorry but I don't want to talk about it. " He walked away before I could apologize, and I really was going to apologize. I didn't want to be that person. His personal life and that experience should be left in the past, especially if he didn't do it.
Now I sat alone and feeling super guilty, I shouldn't have asked him about it at all. It was a seriously rude thing to do. When the day had finally ended and I was ready to go home. I rushed to my locker and carefully threw my books in. I grabbed my backpack, and it didn't take long for me to get to the school entrance. As I walked out of those big glass double doors. The sun shine kissed my skin, and I couldn't help but smile.
I had made it halfway home, when a car pulled up next to me. Tia popped half her body out the passenger window and told me to get in, happily I jumped into the car and was immediately sucked into a black hole of 2000's throwback music.
"What's with the nickel back and OwlCity? I didn't think you guys listened to old music." I laughed at Tia's ridiculousness, as Seven parked the car and turn the music down.
"Hey don't ever dump on my OwlCity, or any of my top 100 picks." His facial expression changed from happy to irritated, and I started to feel nervous. Him and Tia shared a look and burst out laughing.
"He's fucking with you. Don't look so shook. Come on we're gonna help you pack." Tia unlocked the doors and we all got out. Everything was fine until I saw the red Nissan in the driveway. "Kori, who's car is that?" She asked walking around to me.
"More importantly, what are we waiting for? There's a camping trip we're supposed to be getting you ready for." Seven rushed to the front door and motioned for me to come unlock it. I knew it was unlocked, and that the drama was about to begin.
I pushed the front door open and could hear the arguing from outiside.
"Where is he? I have the right to see my son whenever I want, and he has the right to see his siblings. You shouldn't have left in the first place. You know that." The mans voice was so familiar and still somehow felt like a complete stranger. As I walked further into the living room my moms eyes widened and she looked like she was about to cry.
That hurt! Seeing her like that, watching the tears slowly build in her eyes was a terrible feeling. "Mom, what's going on?" As I spoke he turned around and went silent.
"Look at this! What did you do?" He looked back at my mom and then to me.
"Tia and Seven go ahead and start packing some clothes for me. I'll be up in just a sec." They both rushes up the stairs with the empty duffel bag they had brought for me, and I turned towards my dad.
"Kori, you can go upstairs and get ready I can handle him." My mom was strong, and I loved her for that but I wanted to see his face. I went and stood next to my mom and he just watched us.
"You ruined my fucking kid, turned em into a puff. Some kinda weird little shemale." He laughed out of anger his British accent making the words sound harsher than what they normally would have. "I came here to see you, and to introduce you to your brothers but I don't think I want em near you two!"
I looked at him and hoped he would see me, just me. Not my gender, not my boobs, just his child and I tried to fight the tears back. "I think it would be best if you kept your distance from my mom and me." I took a step closer making him take a step back. I continued to do so until he was in the hallway by the front door.
Slowly I turned to my mom and she opened her arms to me, but I smiled and went upstairs. "I love you, I'm gonna get ready for the camping thing." I could tell she was smiling but she was still trying no to cry to.
I walked into my room and caught Seven staring at the photos of me as a kid. He was half smiling and it made me wonder if he could tell. "Hey Kori, I didn't know you had a brother." He said putting the picture back on the table.
"Yeah, but he's gone now." I said feeling a little guilty that I wasn't telling the truth.
"Was that man your dad? He seemed pissed, like I've heard parents argue before and that's the typical sound. I think everyone could hear him, until you came in." Seven laughed as he pointed to the duffle bag on my bed.
"He, wanted to introduce me to his sons, but he was doing a terrible job of getting my mom to say yeah. You guys got my clothes in here that quick?" I looked at him in shock, but Tia came out of my bathroom and chimed in.
"He didn't, he was to busy looking through some of your stuff. Also do you have a pad, I couldn't find one in your bathroom." She pointed her thumb at my bathroom, to let me know I didn't have any in there.
"Yeah, let me see if my mom put them in hers. I think she only has tampons. Is that cool?" We walked down to the kitchen, to ask my Mom but she wasn't here. "I guess she left, you can check her bathroom. Tia went to the bathroom around the corner and Seven came down with my bag.
"I'm gonna put this in the car while you two finish up."
"Oh, I'm good. Just waiting on Tia. Thanks for bringing that down." I walked up and reached for the bag but flinched back when our hands touched and his hand zapped me. The blush rushed across my face and I forced myself to grab the bag from him. "Sorry." I said quietly.
He laughed lightly before taking the bag back from me and winking. "It's cool, and don't apologize so much." He walked to the car and put my bag in the trunk with the rest of the camping stuff, and Tia had finally come out of the bathroom and confirmed that there was some pads and tampons in there. A few brief moments later we were off.
