Chapter 73

Jaidan gets up and off the bed and gets dressed and says, "We're going to sneak into the castle to get to my brother Zarron. Then I'm going to ask him if he knows anything about Kye's daughter." Jake and Vik nod, getting up and also getting dressed. They all head towards the castle and once they get there they sneak past guards when they aren't looking and eventually they get to Zarrons room and Jaidan knocks on the door quietly. Zarron answers and sees it's Jaidan and looks surprised, quickly letting the three of them in. Zarron looks at Jaidan and says, "How'd you get out?" Jaidan sighs shakily and says, "The same way that Kye got put in for 80 years" Zarron looks even more surprised by this and says, "How did you do that?" Jaidan looks away guiltily and says quietly, "I caught him paying off a guard and then he went into one of the rooms where visitors and prisoners can touch. He hugged a little girl that we believe is his daughter and then he talked to her for a few minutes. Do you know anything about him having a daughter?" Zarron shakes his head but says, "He did sneak off everyday to someone's house." Zarron gives Jaidan the address. Jaidan nods and says, "Thank you." And the three of them leave and head to this address. Jake knocks on the door. A man opens the door and an artic fox comes running behind him. The fox was recognizable as the little girl and the dude says, "Hi. Can I help you?" Jaidan gestures to the fox and says, "Where did you get it?" The dude says, "I found it in a storm in an alley. But my dogsitter disappeared on me so now I can't really go anywhere." Jaidan says, "We could watch it for you." The man says, "Really? That would be great!" Jake, Vik, and Jaidan all smile kindly at the fox and then the man says, "I have to go now." He then leaves and the three boys walk in and sit on the couch and the fox follows them. Jaidan then says to the fox, "We know that you're Kye's daughter. I'm his brother." The fox turns into the little girl from before and starts to yell at Jaidan and saying, "He told me about you! He says your mean! Did you come here to hurt me?!" Jaidan sighs and says, "No. We're not here to hurt you. I just wanted to make sure you were okay. I'm sorry about your dad being in prison for the next 80 years." The girl looks confused about the 80 years in prison thing and says, "He's going to be there for 80 years..?" Jaidan looks surprised that she didn't know and says, "I'm so sorry! I'm the one who made home start the fire! It's all my fault!" The girl bursts into tears and Jaidan tries to put a hand on her shoulder but she weakly claws at him so he backs off. Jaidan sighs and looks at the girl and says, "Do you want us to leave you alone?" The girl says, "I can't live as a dog my while life!" Jaidan sighs and says, "We could take you. Would you like that?" The girl hesitates and says, "Would you ever hurt me..?" They all shake their heads. The girl hesitates and says, "I'll go with you but you'll never be as good as Kye." Jaidan sighs and says, "What's your name?" The girl replies with, "Celeste." Jaidan nods and gestures to Jake and says, "This is Jake." He then gestures to Vik and says, "This is Vik." Celeste looks back at Jaidan as they're walking out and says, "Are they your friends?" Jaidan says, "Um. No. They're my boyfriend's." Celeste stops walking and looks at all of them with a face of disgust and confusion and says, "My dad says that boys having boyfriend's is very bad and really gross." Jaidan looks a little hurt by the fact that the girl was homophobic too but just says, "It's not gross or bad. It's called loving who you love." Celeste says, "At least don't be gross around me." Jake chuckles nervously about now taking care of a child that thinks gay people are gross. They all continue walking.
