Chapter 95

Celeste had fallen asleep but Jaidan just lays there awake. Jake, Vik, and Levi had fallen asleep on the couch. A loud, rapid and desperate knocking could be heard on the door, about 1 O'clock into the night, breaking through the silence of the night. Jaidan looks confused and gets up and answers the door, opening it only slightly. A tall, shadowy figure could be seen in the doorway, a smell accompanying it that wasn't exactly pleasant, resembling the strong scent of death. A large bloody orange fur covered hand gripped the door tightly, pulling it further open. Jaidan looks a little nervous and tries to keep it as shut as he could and saying, "Who are you..?" The figure leans in, allowing their features to become clearer. Tall, sleek bloody orange ears were on the top of its head, rips and tears in the ears making them look very disheveled. The eyes on the face then became bright, bold and fierce yellow eyes, that made him immediately recognisable, though it seemed impossible. Jaidan stumbles back in disbelief, letting go of the door and saying, "W-What..? W-We watched.. Huh.. How..?" A toothy smile covered his face, he gave out a throaty laugh. As he stepped forward once more, it was now able to be seen that his chest was only party full, it being covered in matted, dirty fur, but with one side of his chest the skin was missing, and his rib cage could be seen. This seemed also to be true on his face, as one top corner of it was just bone, and the skin around one of his eyes was missing on that same corner. There was also a very very noticeable wound on his neck, a clear cut wrapping around it, with blood pooling around it inside his body, and stitches seeming to keep it on somehow. Jaidan looks horrified and says, "N-No.. T-This isn't p-possible.." His voice came out deeper than usual, and much more strained, though somehow more menacing because of this. "You are correct, but here I am." Jaidan's eyes were wide open and he says, "W-What do you w-want..?" He gripped the door tighter and leaned in further. "My DAUGHTER." Jaidan stops for a second but then smirks and says, "If you help me with something first." Kye pauses, then growls. "Give. Her. To. Me. NOW." Jaidan says, "No. Not until you help me." He stares at him, his lifeless eyes seeming to stare right through him into his soul. "With what?" Jaidan says, "Help me get the Merpeople's crown and then you can have your daughter." Kye paused for a moment more, staring at him like he was crazy. He then narrowed his eyes on him. "Let me in." Jaidan says, "Do you promise to help me?" He responded irritatedly, "We will talk inside." Jaidan says, "No. Not until you promise." Kye growls at him again. "FINE. Just let. Me. IN." Jaidan says as he steps back, "You can see her but you can't wake her until we get the crown." Kye simply stays silent, nodding and walking in with a heavy limp. It seemed that he was avoiding speaking as much as possible. "Wake the others." Jaidan nods and says, "Stay here." Jaidan walks over to the couch and nudges Vik and Jake and then picks up Levi and rubs his head softly. Jake and Vik stir and look at him. Jake says, "What's up?" Jaidan says, "Kye is here somehow. Get up." They both hop up quickly and Levi stirs, barely opening his eyes. They all go over to Kye and Jaidan says, "There. They're up now." Jake looks really confused and Vik says, "How are you even here?" Jake then says, "Even if you did survive, why do you look so bad?" Kye simply stares back at them with the same cold lifeless look. "I didn't survive." Jake looks confused and takes a step closer to Vik. Kye says nothing more, and simply looks to Jaidan. "Now. How many of you are going?" Jaidan looks down at Levi and then to Vik and says, "Can you stay here with him?" Vik nods and Jaidan hands Levi over to Vik carefully. Jaidan looks back at Kye and says, "Just Jake and I." Kye huffs and nods. He steps closer to the both of them and focuses, going quiet and making a gesture with his hand, and using magic to transport the three of them elsewhere, leaving them all with a flash of light, before their eyes adjusted and they could be seen standing at the shore of a beach. Kye then snapped his fingers, allowing three beaded rings of pearls, long enough to be necklaces to appear in his hand. He then held out his hand to the two of them. "These will allow us to swim and breath under water like they do. Take one. Put it somewhere on you where is not easily noticed, Merfolk aren't dumb. They know these are. They may become hostile if they learn we are not one of them." Jaidan takes one and lifts up his pants leg and ties it around his ankle. Jake takes the second one and does the same. They stand back up and look at Kye. Kye simply shoves his into his rib cavity, and gestures to the water. "After you." Jaidan grabs Jake's hand and they walk into the water together. Kye follows after them, rolling his eyes at their hand holding, and looking around the area suspiciously before doing so. Jaidan's tail was a dark green and around where his ankles would be there was a few white scales. Jake's tail was a light blue and was the same around where the ankles would be. Jaidan looks down at his tail and smiles, looking over to Kye. Kye's orange fur turned to scales, gradienting from his shoulders a yellow to his lower back a bright orange. His tail was the fiery orange his fur left of at, which Gradually turned to a deep red as it went down. His fins were torn and chipped, and he had a large section of one side of his tail that was fully missing scales and flesh, only having the bone structuring of it left, somehow still holding together the rest of it. Kye Met Jaidan's gaze with no more emotion than before, but looked most closest to being almost embarrassed, though he said nothing. Jaidan smirkes a little and looks over at Jake and whispers so that Kye couldn't hear him, "I don't think he likes his tail." Kye scanned the water, the end fins of his tail flicking ever so slightly every once in a while, and he kept his arms crossed tightly over his chest, protectively. Jaidan swims up next to Kye and says to him, smirking, "Is something wrong?" Kye, Not appreciating his expression looks away, clearly deflecting the question and changing the Subject. "We should get going. The kingdom shouldn't be too far off from here, though it's exact whereabouts have been hidden from us. If we just swim straight for about half an hour that way," he said as he pointed towards a deeper part of the waters before placing his hand snuggly back Into protection of his chest, "we should be able to find traces of civilisation, and eventually the whole kingdom." Jaidan doesn't like him trying to change the subject so he says, "Why won't you tell me what's wrong?" He moves closer to him so that Jake couldn't hear them talking and says, "I won't tell anyone." Kye growls at him. "I did not come here for you to mock me. I am only here because you won't let me have my daughter otherwise. Let's not waste time." Kye then takes off fast through the water in the direction he pointed out. Jaidan grabs Jake's arm and they both speed off after him. After a little over half an hour, a large city looking area came into view, with buildings built out of coral and marble, with beautiful structure and detail. Merfolk could be seen all around this area, and in the distance, quite a bit away yet still very clear was an enormous, extravagant castle, clearly built to hold the royals, with clear protection all around it, and plenty of people around to ensure nobody could sneak past any of it. Kye, seeing this slowed. "Great we're here. I should go now, yeah? I've gotten you here, that was all you needed me for. You can finish this all up on your own and then give me my daughter." Jaidan looks back at Kye and says, "No. You're helping us get the crown and then you can have her." Kye looks angry. "Wh- That wasn't- I cant go in there looking like this! I look like a fr-" he pauses, and scoffs. "I'd.. be suspicious. Is what I meant. Make it harder to get the crown.." Jaidan shakes his head and says, "You're helping if you want Celeste back. I don't care if you think you look like a freak." Kye refused to speak, simply looking away, and then continuing to swim towards the city again. Jaidan and Jake follow him, staying really close to him.
