Chapter 97

Jake stirs and looks over at Kye and sees the necklace, quickly sitting up and shaking Jaidan awake. Jaidan jerks awake and groans, keeping his eyes closed but saying, "What's wrong..?" Jake says quickly, "Kye's necklace fell out!" Jaidan opens his eyes and sits up, looking over at Kye, not knowing what to do, looking back at Jake and saying, "He hurt Levi.. Should we even bother to save him?" Jake says, "Um.. Don't we need him to get the crown..?" Jaidan looks troubled and says, "I guess we could help him.." They both get up and go over to Kye and get on the ground. Jaidan grabs the necklace and shoves it back into Kye's ribcage. Kye sputters awake, coughing harshly as the necklace transformed him, up until his gills appeared. He stared at the ground, crumpled on the floor, breathing heavily. After a moment he looks up and over at the two of them, confused. "W..Why did you.." Jaidan gets back up and goes back to the bed. Jake stays and says, "We still need you. Are you okay?" Kye huffs, looking away and laying down again. "Like you care." Jake says, "I care a little bit." Kye turns and glares at him. "You care that I get the crown for you, because without me you'd be useless." Jake sighs and says, "I was just trying to be nice to you. Geez." Kye shuffles a bit and looks at him, very confused. "You were...?" Jake looks back at him and says, "Well yeah.. But apparently you don't like that." Kye frowns. "Sorry, I just... im not really used to people being nice to me.. if I ever was, spending four years being treated like a terrorist doesn't really help.." Jake looks back down at the ground and says, "I'm sorry about what happened to you.." Kye shakes his head. "Well it was your boyfriend's doing. If you really care, go talk to him about it." Jake sighs shakily and says, "He's not going to listen to anything or anyone right now.. He pretty much hates everyone.." Kye scoffs and rolls his eyes, getting up. "Better get used to it. Anyway, I'm going to be productive and see what I can do about The Queen~" Jake gets up, looking back at him, nodding and saying, "Can I come with you?" Kye raises an eyebrow. "I guess. Don't get in my way though. I flirt better with a clear head." Jake nods, smiling a bit and saying, "Just let me know if you want me to do anything." Kye swam out of the room, looking around. Jake had followed. The queen was swimming back to her room and Jake nudges Kye, smirking. The queen stops in front of Kye, Jake moves back a little so Kye could do his thing. Kye bows slightly to The Queen and smiles flirtatiously. "Good Morning, Your Highness! You look stunning, how are you?" The Queen smiles at him and says, "I'm doing well. How about yourself?" Kye chuckles mischievously under his breath and swims ever so closer to her. "As well as I can be, giving my condition." The Queen lets him move closer, looking amused and saying, "Well I'm glad. Do you guys need anything?" He raises an eyebrow. "Something, but I don't think we'd either be very happy if I told." The Queen looks a little confused. "What is it?" He chuckles. "Why don't we work up to that, honey?" She smirks when he says honey and says, "Mm~ Anything else you want?"
Glad she seemed to be playing along, he continues a bit further. "As a matter of fact, there is. Goes by the name of a date." She moves a little closer to him, like Kye had done before. She says, "Where shall we go?" Kye chuckles, changing corse to just about the complete opposite direction, making a quite odd and on the surface awful choice. "You're quite open to doing this with just any old fish, huh? Getting desperate now that you're a Queen but still single and childless?" The queen looks a little offended, saying, "Why would you say that..?" Kye follows up with, "Well you ARE acting desperate. I have got to be the most suspicious fish friend you have ever seen, not to mention probably least likely bachelor, yet you go for me the moment I open you to the idea." Jake starts to get worried, whispering to Kye so the queen couldn't hear, "What are you doing?" Kye whispers back, "Don't worry, I know what I'm doing. There's no way I could've gotten as close to her as I wanted seeing as how eager she was. I'm making a connection." Jake sighs and nods. The queen says to what Kye had said before, "I'm not desperate.. And I don't think you're that suspicious.." Kye crosses his arms. "If that's the case, why are you interested in me anyway?" She blushes a little bit but was trying to hide it, saying, "Do you not like it or something..?" Kye stares back at her blankly. "You didn't answer my question, sweetheart." She looks away slightly and says, "I can't describe how I feel.." Kye shrugs. "Most women can't. Now. Do you want kids." She looks surprised but a little scared at the same time. Kye smirks. "Yes or no, luv." Jake starts to back off and goes back into the room. The Queen says shakily, "Uh.. Um.. I don't know.. I-I'm just a little nervous.." Kye sees this and locks eye contact with her. "Oh yeah? Must be tough knowing you HAVE to have at least 1 heir, being Queen and all." She says quietly, "I'm already 28.. I should have a child by now.." Kye stares at her, no sympathy in his voice. "You're right, you should. Now, if you're scared of having children, then answer me now why you were agreeing to a date with me?" She says, "I just.. I'm willing to give it a shot.."Kye narrows his eyes. "You must have tons of other mermen who would love to date you, have you given any of them shots?" She looks back up at him and says, "I.. I want to try with you.. Why are you fighting this so much..? It was your idea.." Kye smiles brightly and holds out his hand, completely switching attitude. "Tonight at 8, follow the fox." Not knowing what to do, she just stays right where she was. Kye smoothly leans forward and slips his hand into hers, shaking it, winking at her, and promptly swimming off back to the guest room. Jake was sitting on the edge of the bed, staring at the ground. Kye, looking very pleased with himself goes in. "I am fairly certain I got the date!" Jake looks up at him after a few moments and says, "That's great. What are you going to do?" Kye chuckles. "Wish you stayed for my whole performance! Left her so confused, Ha! I'm gunna use a few magic tricks and lure her up out of the way of any watching eyes." Jake says, "I left because it got uncomfortable for me.." Kye looks at him, confused. "Why? What made you uncomfortable?" Jake says, "I just didn't like when you were asking her about kids and stuff.." Kye shrugs. "Why not?" Jake replies with, "Why were you talking about having children with a women you just met..? I just found that uncomfortable and really weird.." Kye gave him a confused laugh. "Oh. Really? Uh, sorry. Though.. I have always wondered what fox fish children would look like~.." Jake squirms a little and looks back down at the ground, saying, "Please just keep that to yourself.." Kye smirks, pushing further as any sense of bond that they had was thrown out the window, and he locks onto his next soft point. "Well, really. It could happen. I wonder what tails they'd have. Would they have nine fish tails? Or one fox tail?" Jake groans and gets up, starting to go out the door. Kye laughs. "Oh come on! Grow up! I'm just joking around!" Jake stops, turning and looking at him and saying, "But I told you I didn't like it but you just continued.." Kye rolls his eyes. "Yeah, so? Get over it!" He says, "I know that you don't like gay people but please try to respect my boundaries.." Kye scoffs. "I will respect no such thing. Stop being winey. Now, I'm gunna wake up Jaidan." He swims over to him. Jake says, "Leave him alone! Just let him sleep!" Kye does no such thing, gripping into his shoulder and shaking him. "Get up, you lazy fish!" Jaidan jerks awake, ripping away from Kye and moving over, laying his head back down. Kye scoffs. "Come on, bro!" He slaps him with a fin of his tail. Jaidan doesn't look at him but grumbles, "What do you want?" Kye yells back at him. "For you to get up, Idiot!" Jaidan huffs, "Do you have a reason why I should?" "Cuz I told you to! You shouldn't be a lazy bum who sleeps all day! We have work to do!" He responded, still yelling at this point. He opens his eyes and looks at Kye, saying, "Have Jake do whatever you need! I don't want to get up and be around everyone right now!" Jake swims over to them and attempts to grab Jaidan's hand. Jaidan growls and pushes him away, sitting up and yelling, "Why can't you just leave me alone when I ask?!" Jake looked hurt and backs away from him. Kye simply stares at him, a sudden deep coldness in his eyes, much different from the former pettiness from before. "Tell me, brother. Do you think the wardens in my sector cared if I didn't wanna be around anyone right then? Do you think they left ME alone when I asked?" Jaidan huffs and hops off the bed, going over to a wall and leaning against it, staring at Jake uncomfortably. Jake looks over to Kye for what they should do next. Kye nods silently. "Now. What is the plan on how we're going to get the Queen's crown?" Jaidan says rudely, "You two can figure that out." Jake looked pretty upset because of how Jaidan was acting and he says, "Why are you being so mean.." Jaidan growls and yells, "He gave worms to my 4 year old child! Why should I listen to him?! He's a horrible person!" Kye nods mock understandingly. "You locked me in prison, stole my child, and sentenced me to death! Why should you listen to me? We're both horrible people!" Jaidan huffs and looks away. Jake looks troubled and says, "Guys.. Please stop.." Jake looks at Jaidan and says, "Don't you want the crown?" Jaidan grumbles, "Yeah.." Jake looks over to Kye, saying, "Don't you want your daughter?" Kye rolls his eyes, grumbling a matching "Yeah.." Jake sighs and says, "We need to think of how we're going to get the crown."
