I arrived back to Charlotte Motor Speedway and started to walk towards the business offices were located inside the Speedway. I immediately went to Kate's office to tell her about how the podcast went. By the time I got to her office she had already been on the phone with Chuck, Kim, and Ryan they told her how great I was and that they were super impressed with us. They also told her some secrets that I couldn't know about yet. That's why when I entered her office she got a lot quieter and cut the phone conversation short because it became very hush-hush. She hung up the phone call and I could already tell how excited and overly joyful she was, she then got up from her desk and engulfed me in a hug telling me how proud she was of me.
//Kate's POV//
I had received a text from Julia saying that she was leaving Moorseville and going to stop by and grab some lunch before co,I gotta back her to CMS. Nobody knew that I had actually listened to the whole podcast this morning, so I got to hear for myself just how fantastic my new employee was. I must say she really did a great job and I know that she is going to do great things here at this organization. While I was in my office my phone started ringing and it was Chuck, Kim, and Ryan from the Glass Case of Emotion podcast they had wanted to have a conference call with me about how they thought that this morning went. I quickly answered the call and made sure that no one could hear our conversation either since I don't know how long I'll have before Julia gets back here.
***Phone Conversation with GCOE Hosts***
Kate: Hey everyone this is Kate Tomlinson from Charlotte Motor Speedway. How is everybody doing?
GCOE Hosts: Hey Kate! We are all doing wonderful today, how about you?
Kate: That is great to hear. I'm doing well. I just wanted to say thank you so much for letting me listen into the podcast this morning so I could hear how Julia was doing and see if I had made the right choice in sending her up there to y'all.
GCOE Hosts: It was no problem at all and we are glad we could help you out. It can be nerve wracking at times when you don't know if you have made the right decision or not. We wanted to personally call and tell you that you have nothing to be concerned about with Julia because she was so well prepared and always knew what she was talking about. We would like to ask you something involving Julia though.
Kate: That is music to my hears knowing that I made the right decision in sending her to go up there this morning. What is the question that you have about Julia and should I be worried?
GCOE Hosts: No you have nothing to be worried about it is good news after all. Because we were so pleased with her this morning we would love to have her as a permanent fill in if one of us can't make it to film for the show?
Kate: That is amazing news and I would be honored to share Julia and her talent with y'all. When and how did you want to bring up the news to her?
GCOE Hosts: We have already made her a gift basket full of items from the show, NASCAR, and other memorabilia. We are going to send her that gift basket, a vase full of roses, and then come surprise her tomorrow and ask her ourselves. We would love for you to help us out and also be there to keep her distracted before we pop out and surprise her.
Kate: I love this idea. Of course I can help y'all out and keep her busy before having y'all be here to ask her. I heard her just come into the offices so I guess I better get off the phone before she gets suspicious. Thank y'all for everything and I can't wait for this fun surprise tomorrow. Bye!
GCOE Hosts: Okay awesome see you tomorrow. We can't wait to add her to our show permanently. Bye!
***End of Phone Conversation ***
I see Julia walk into my office as I am finishing up my conference call. Looks like she didn't hear a single word from the conversation I just had. I am so proud of her that I have to give her a hug and that is something I rarely do. I keep my composure by sitting back down at my desk and just simply begin by asking how her day was at the studio. I noticed that Julia was also dressed very nice today, I began thinking to myself thank goodness because my past employees dressed like slobs and I was not thrilled with them. Just because you work for a Speedway doesn't mean you should be coming into work dressed like you are going to the races no pun intended. Julia tells me about everything that happened and that she truly had a great day. I told her that I was so pleased with her and that I had a conversation with the hosts and all they did was praise her. She was happy to hear that they had great feedback about her already because it's only been a few hours since she met them anyways. I then told Julia that she could go ahead and head home early since she's had a busy day and I know she's itching to get started writing her report.
//Julia's POV//
I couldn't believe my ears when Kate told me that she was so proud of me and that she has already heard amazing things that Chuck, Kim, and Ryan had said about me also. It had only been a few hours since I had even met them and filmed for their podcast that releases every Thursday. After talking to Kate for a few more minutes she told me to go ahead and head home because of the long day that I had, she also knew how excited I was to get started writing the report about the podcast. I took lots of notes while I was there and they had also given me a printed out itinerary of what all we were going to talk about plus who was going to call in or have Blaney call. I told Kate bye and that I would see her tomorrow at my normal time in the morning. Before I left I stopped by my office and picked up some other papers and articles that I needed for my report, I then headed back out of the building to my car in the parking lot. I began to realize just how much I was already loving this job and can't wait to see what my future holds for me in this industry.
When I got back home I changed into some comfortable clothes and began getting to work on this report I was writing. The report didn't have to be too terribly long but because I wanted it to be great and full of information I probably was going to write more than I should. As I was typing away on my computer I had not even noticed that my phone had beeped telling me that I had a new text message. The screen flashed again saying that it was a also from a number that I did not have in my contact list...
