Chapter 10: Texts that turn into Phone Calls

At around 3:00 Kate came into my office and had said that I could go ahead and go home for the day since nothing else was really going on there at the Speedway. I began shutting everything off and grabbing my things and my gift basket before I was ready to go, I then locked my office and told everyone bye before leaving the building heading to my car in the parking lot. 

I got back to my apartment and decided to take a little nap before working on my new report about my awesome job offer and new position. I set my alarm on my phone for roughly an hour, so I knew to wake up around 4 to 4:10ish. I also set a reminder in my phone for when I wake up I'll call Mikayla and tell her about me possibly having her a date soon. 

<———————————-skips to 4:10 and waking up from my nap———————>

I woke up from my nap and I quickly turned off my alarm and changed my reminder on my phone as I was calling Mikayla. I put the phone on speakerphone so I could start back to working on my report. Kate already told me that I will definitely get to publish this report as well because it is going to be posted on the Speedways social media pages and NASCAR was going to share it with the announcement of me joining the GCOE podcast. 

***Phone Conversation with Mikayla***

Julia: Hey Mikayla! I hope that you are doing well, I miss you. 

Mikayla: Hi Julia! I miss you too. I am doing pretty good at the moment. My collection is almost complete and I can't wait for you to see it. How are you doing? 

Julia: That's good to hear. I am so excited to see your collection I know that it is going to be amazing. I am doing great! I just started my new job a few days ago at the Speedway here in Charlotte I have also been asked to be a permanent fill-in for the Glass Case of Emotion podcast. 

Mikayla: After my collection is finished I have to fly out to California to do a fitting for 5SOS. The Bilboard Music Awards are coming up next weekend so I am flying out for those and will be a soon to be famous fashion designer on the red carpet. It sounds like you love your job already and I am so proud of you my bestie. 

Julia: Ooh that sounds like so much fun! I know you must be freaking out getting to dress 5SOS since we've grown up listening and fangirling to them. I was talking about you today at lunch to the hosts of the podcast and one of the guys that is cute and a famous NASCAR driver was wanting me to set him up with you. I told him I had to check with you first before sending your phone number to him. His name is Ryan and he is super sweet and funny, y'all also have a lot in common.

Mikayla:This is why we have been best friends for so many years you know me so well when it comes to music. I know that you woulnt set me up with anybody bad, I'll look him up and Facebook stalk him first and then send you a text saying you can give my number to him. So is there anybody special in your life? 

Julia: Okay awesome just let me know. Ehh kinda I'm sorta talking to a guy but we haven't seen each other in person yet. His name is Chase and he is from Georgia like us, he's our age, he has his pilots license, and he is also a famous NASCAR driver. 

Mikayla: I hope that you find someone that is going to be perfect for you. From the way you've talked to me about this boy it sounds like you really like him. Just go with your gut on everything. Someone is calling me on the other line so I need to take this, I'll text you later on about this Ryan boy getting my number. Bye!!!

Julia: Thank you for the advice. I look forward to you texting me back about what you think. I'll see you soon. Bye!!!

I got off the phone and I stopped typing for a minute to read over what I had so far. I read over it and decided I wanted to add a little bit more to my report and also add my pictures from today. I definitely wanted to mention that I am so thankful for the opportunity getting to work for both Charlotte Motor Speedway and the GCOE podcast. I made some dinner and watched some of the Braves game when I heard my phone buzz. I looked at my phone to see that I had 3 texts messages; I had 1 message from Mikayla, 1 message from Ryan, and 1 message from my Mom. I responded back to Mikayla first, then to Ryan by also sending along Mikayla's contact information, and I finally sent my Mom back a text. 

Mikayla said that she Facebook stalked Ryan and she watched a few of his interviews plus some of the podcast videos. She said that she felt like Ryan checked off a lot of the things that she looked for in a guy; like having a good relationship with his family, he is good with both children and dogs, he has the curly hair, and the pretty blue eyes that she totally crushes on. She then got all excited that I was friends with him and that I was going to give him her number. 

I then sent Ryan a text. We had a small conversation just texting about how much fun I had today and that I really had no idea that they were going to ask me to join them. He said that was something that doesn't really happen too often so if they really like you that means you are special. I then told him that Mikayla said that she didn't mind and wanted me to send him her phone number. Ryan was happy and that he would promise to not bombard her with texts. 

I texted my mom for a few minutes and told her about my day and my new job at MRN. Shs said that she was so proud of me and couldn't believe that I already had made such a good impression on so many people up here in North Carolina. 

I then saw that I had a text from Chase. I opened it and sent him a text back since he had asked about how my day was. He sent me one back telling me how his day was all's, but he then sent me another text with just a question that said "If you aren't busy, do you mind if I call you on the phone?"
