I woke up around 9:30 to my alarm going off on my phone and it hit me that today is the big day that I would be meeting Chase for the first time. I didn't have to be at the Pool Room until 12 or so and we would be in a semi private area for the interview and lunch would be provided. I had time to make sure I had all of the questions that I wanted to ask and that NASCAR wanted me to ask. I was definitely feeling both excited and a little bit nervous at the same time, but I knew to just be myself like how I was on Glass Case that day and everything would be fine. While I had some time to relax before I got ready I decided to call the front desk and order some room service for breakfast this morning. I ordered some fruit, a yogurt parfait, and a scone. While eating I looked on my phone and checked my email to see if I had anything important. I saw I had an email from NASCAR just explaining how it would be when I got to the Pool Room and that I needed to be there at around 11:30 to go over a few things and to set up.
I finished eating and decided to go ahead and start getting ready so I wouldn't be late. I also went ahead and texted my driver for the day Paul that I would need him to come pick me up at 10:50/11:00. He quickly texted back that he would be here ready for me no later than that! I turned on my curling iron that I had and decided to do something nice to my already curly hair, by adding some more prominent waves to my hair. I brushed my teeth and then started to apply my makeup, but I know I didn't want to go overboard on makeup and end up looking like a clown. I definitely wanted to make a good impression for both NASCAR and to Chase since it;l be my first time meeting him today. I had already had my shirt on that I was wearing while I did my makeup, I was very careful applying it and I wore a bathrobe to protect my clothes also.
Finally I was ready to go. I decided to go ahead and pack everything in my suitcase that I had brought because I didn't know if I would be coming back to my hotel after the interview or if I was heading back to the airport. I checked out of the hotel and walked out to meet Paul, he had pulled up in front of the hotel in the blacked out Range Rover that he was driving yesterday. I told him that I had no idea what my plan was for the day after thr interview so that's why I had my suitcase with me. He said that it was totally fine and that he would keep it in the car and would be sitting in the parking lot during my interview. It didn't take us long to get to the Pool Room, so I went ahead and walked in to go ahead and get mic'd up.
//Chase's POV//
I woke up to my alarm that I had set on my phone last night. In the past I have noticed that I wake up better to music playing rather than some standard alarm that comes on my phone. So of course I set it to some Eric Church before I had fallen asleep last night. Today was my big hometown interview with NASCAR at the Pool Room here in Dawsonville. I had this feeling that I couldn't explain but I knew that today would be a great day. I was feeling excited and a little bit nervous about this interview even though I have had many interviews in the past. I didn't have to be there until around 11:45/11:50 ish, so I had plenty of time to eat a yummy breakfast that my mom was making for me. I went downstairs to go and greet my parents and eat breakfast with them; my mom had made for me one of my favorite things which is some waffles and bacon with a yogurt parfait on the side. I told my parents that NASCAR had sent me an email just explaining to be there at 11:45/11:50 and to just have fun and give the viewers what they want.
I finished my breakfast and thanked my mom for making it before I headed back up to my room to get ready for this big interview that I had today. I walked back into my bedroom and straight to my closet to figure out what I was gonna wear today. I wanted to dress up just a little bit but not be too overly dressed like in a suit, tuxedo, etc. I looked at a lot of different shirts that I had in my closet and finally just picked a navy blue golf shirt that had one of my logos on it, some gray shorts, a pair of tennis shoes, and a light blue hat. I finished getting ready and still had some time before I needed to leave and head to the Pool Room, so I decided to call Blaney and see what he was up to.
***Phone Conversation with Blaney***
Chase: Hey Blaney.
Blaney: Well good morning to you too Clyde, what's up?
Chase: Nothing much buddy just getting ready to leave and head down to the Pool Room for an interview that NASCAR is doing with me today. How about you? (I began walking to my car so I could head out and not be late)
Blaney: Mr. Most Popular Driver himself is getting all sorts of media attention woo must be nice. Sounds like fun though that it'll be a hometown historical interview. I actually just stepped outside to let Sturgil out to use the bathroom.
Chase: Yeah I think it is going to be a lot of fun getting to talk about my family and the ties that we have to the Pool Room. You can't say anything you are always talking to the media and you have a job on a podcast. Maybe NASCAR will interview you soon.
Blaney: Haha whatever you say buddy. That's true I do work on a popular podcast. Let me know how it goes later on.
Chase: I'll let you know how it goes once it's finished. I just pulled up to the Pool Room, so I guess I'll let you go. Bye Blaney!
Blaney: Okay have fun. Bye Chase!
***End of Phone Conversation with Blaney***
I got out of my truck and began walking up to the doors of the Pool Room. I stepped inside and someone from the restaurant pointed me where to go and that they had just finished setting everything up. I walked to the semi private area that they had and was soon very distracted by the most beautiful woman that was standing there getting mic'd up. She had dark red hair that was curly, she wore this nice expensive looking outfit, and a smile that would make anybody fall in love. After standing there drooling for a few moments I soon realized that her name tag she was wearing said Julia Winters and that's when it hit me...
