Chapter One: About a week later

Chapter One

I heard his voice; Jason was somewhere calling my name. I opened my eyes, and looked at my big brother his head resting on the side of my bed, holding my hand.

I felt the wetness from his tears on the side of my hand.

“Jason” I tried to say, but nothing would some out.

I slowly raised my other hand and put it on his head. Brushing his hair with my hand

His shot up and looked into my eyes

“SOPHIA! Oh thank god you’re okay! I don’t know what I would have done it you didn’t wake up!” He cried.

My brother didn’t cry, at least not in front of everyone, Only me. Something must be wrong.

“Jason” I finally get out, but my voice is raspy and weak. “What’s going on?”

“Nurse! Nurse! She’s awake!” He yelled as an older lady with long grey hair came in and smiled at me.

“I’ll go get the doctor” she said sweetly.

“Where is mom and dad?” I asked Jason

But he just looked at me and shrugged and said "Italy, Business meeting or something."

Our parents were never home, and when they were, they just fought with each other about every aspect of their business. It was enough to drive you crazy.

After the nurse came back in with a glass of water, I was feeling better. The doctor asked me a bunch of questions, and I gathered that I had been out of it for about a week.

Once the doctor left, I gave my brother a panicked look and just started spilling out

“What happened? Why am I here? OH NO! I missed my first week of classes; I don’t know what I’m going to do! There goes my career, I can never catch up,  i'll ver get into medical school now! what-“

When Jason cut me off “it’s okay, I talked to all your teachers, and I have noted for you, and they all understand, you can do your homework here for the need week while they keep you for observation. It’s the first week; you really didn’t miss that much anyways. Everything will be okay.”

I let out a breath I didn’t realize I was holding, thank god!

“What happened to me Jason, why am I here?” I asked

“ You don’t remember?” He asked me confused?

“No! Tell me” I yelled smacking him on the back of the head

“feisty” I heard him murmur under his breath

Then he proceded to say “We were on vacation, and decided to head to that cave all the locals talked about, we were racing, i'm so sorry” he said crying

He continued “I didn’t even realize you weren’t behind me. It’s my fault, I should have been watching for you” and he engulfed me in a big bear hug “I love you Soso”

he used the nickname he always called me. Lame, I know, but he loves it, and so do I.

“JJ, it’s not your fault. I’m okay now” I said and hugged him back.

Over the next week, It was a boring blur of checkups and homework.

Jason would come over after practice, and stay with me both of us doing out homework, then he would go home at night, to sleep, and do it all over.

On the weekends, he would stay the night with me. I loved my brother. Jason was right, I really wasn’t as far behind as I thought

It just just easy review, except in my Organic chemistry class. Apparently I missed the pairing up for a project due at the end of term, and there would be parts introduces through the whole term.

This class was really going to suck. I’m already behind; Not far, but still behind.

I’ve never been behind a day in my life. At least I have managed to stay caught up on all my other classes being in this hell hole. I can’t wait to be discharged.
