"And I think that's the last of it!" Nayeon exclaimed with a huff.
"Finally," Hyojung sighed. The wedding reception was long and went way past the allotted time. When the last guests finally left, it was an exhausting struggle to pack all of the gifts and table ornaments.
The newly married excitement was nowhere to be found as Hyojung and Jaebum looked at the trunk packed to the brim with flower arrangements, wrapped boxes, and almost ironically over half of the wedding cake.
"To think we spent so much money on that damn cake." Jaebum wiped his tired face before slamming the car trunk down in regret.
Hyojung looked at her husband's sunken, sallow face and she giggled. Jaebum glanced up in confusion as she wiped the tears at the corners of her eyes.
"Why are you so bitter?" she laughed. "I think the wedding was perfect no matter how much money we lost."
Jaebum looked at his wife and sighed, feeling that she was just way too precious for this money hungry world. Tweaking her nose between his index finger and thumb he teased, "You've got wedding cake frosting on your nose!"
"Im Jaebum!" she yelled wiping her nose to find white cream cheese frosting.
"Yes, it's your last name too!" he cooed out as he scrambled into the driver's seat.
Nayeon snickered at Hyojung's grunt in frustration. Truth be told, Nayeon was not super ecstatic at first when Jaebum proposed. She felt that the couple was taking things way too fast. But watching these two lovingly bicker, she knew they were a match for more than a lifetime.
"I guess I'll be heading out," Nayeon gently reminded her friend of her existence.
"Of course! Thanks so much for everything my maid of honor!" Hyojung squished her in a hug, exaggerating each syllable of the title.
"Congratulations on getting married." A part of Nayeon filled with tender sadness. Even though she would see Hyojung again soon, she could not help but feel like a mother sending away her daughter. She held her best friend back tightly turning her face away.
However as her best friend, Hyojung easily noticed her feelings. "Thanks," she whispered. "And congrats on catching the bouquet. I can't wait to be your maid of honor soon."
Nayeon scoffed playfullying whacking Hyojung on the shoulder with the flowers. She waved the newlyweds off as the car backed out of the parking space, holding in her laughs at the the writing on the back window. Big colorful capital letters spelled out, 'JUST MARRIED,' while smaller ones in the corner read out, 'Now hurry up! I want a niece or nephew!'
