"Your cooking is the best!" Mark grinned whilst wiping his mouth with a napkin.

"Well, I'm glad you liked it," Nayeon smiled as she tidied up the paper plates and plastic forks and spoons into a small trash bag. It was Friday night, and she and Mark were having a picnic dinner at the beach since.

Nayeon folded her legs to her body mermaid style as she looked out towards the peaceful ocean. The sun was finally setting and it almost looked as if the massive golden star would plunge into the aquamarine waters.

"Beautiful, isn't it?" Mark glided his eyes towards Nayeon who blushed as she made eye contact.

"Mm," she nodded.

"Wanna take a walk?" he asked, holding out his hand.

In the midst of the melting sun, the twines of blue started to seep into the night canvas. And as the last bits of sunlight magnified in a bright glow on Mark' skin, Nayeon couldn't help but think the scene was something out of a fairy tale.

He would be the dazzling prince and she would be the gorgeous princess. Taking her by the hand, they would go on a romantic stroll across the soft grains of sand. The waves would beat softly at their bare feet as the breathtaking sun descended.

But that would never happen...

"Nayeon?" Mark asked at her blank gaze.

"Oh sorry! Yeah let's go for a walk." Quickly patting down her skirt, she jumped up with a start, slipping on the picnic blanket in the process.

A warm embrace engulfed her sides, sending an electric zap through her body and straight to her rapidly beating heart. The pounding of the troublesome organ wouldn't stop as she locked eyes with her savior. Her cheeks pooled with red heat and her incessant feelings could not be repressed.

... because...

"You good?" Mark smiled and she automatically couldn't help grin back clumsily.

"Of course."

... they were only friends.

"It's cold," Nayeon shuddered as she poked her right foot into the freezing water.

Mark only chuckled and dragged her a few inches further in. "Look the sun is almost gone."

"Uh y-yeah." But Nayeon's mind was on anything but the fading sun.
