12. Distant

Sorry this one is a little short

She walked up the hill, passing an old willow tree. Her white dress made her look like a princess. She sat on the hill beneath that very tree.

She watched the sun rise. In hopes to see his face for the last time.

Her hopes and dreams laid with him, he was the only one for her. He was there for her first break-up. He was there encouraging her varied dreams. She slowly fell into love. Not noticing everyday her heart beat raced to see him.

This old willow tree was the place he confessed his undying love for her. And she did the same.

All her memories of him came flooding back. His smile, his laugh. He was one of the best people in the world.

He was hers. As she was his.

It was like this everyday. She'd hoped that he'd finally come home.

Days passed. As did more.

Many of these days she spent crying. Lost and felt distant.

Her parents feared for her distant behavior, but they could not help her. She was far too gone.

Soon  year had passed. She still walked up that hill everyday. Sitting in the same spot. Tears dusting her cheeks, the dress was washed but stains of earth still left their mark on the white dress.

She lost hope that day as she stood up, the same time she retreated back. Tears spilling over those tear stained cheeks. The same path the tears took everyday.

She had lost him.

And there was nothing she could have done.

When she heads back, she sees the family that has treated her well. Her family... Claire stood up, engulfing the heart broken woman in her arms. She had begun to cry too. Even though Chris acted all tough, he had watery eyes.

They helped her inside, day after day. She was getting older. It was much harder to walk up that hill.

She would never stop, until she died.

They had begun to keep her home. Until one day she managed to get out of the house, she left the dress. Making her way up the hill with determination. But she doubt she could make it.

When they noticed her missing, they found her too late. But when they found her, they saw the smile on her face. Her eyes closed. Looking into the sun. A note in her hand.

I have found peace at last
