Leon's POV

I watched as she trained. She was one of the best, but not better than me. I knew she looked up to me, and to be honest... I looked up to her.

She was brave, selfless.

She was also so beautiful.

I didn't mind that she was different. She had gotten the T-virus in her at the age of six. She was expiremented on, yet she still kept going.

I watched as Hunnigan gave her instructions. Hunnigan was like a mother to her, after all they were related.

I walked to the exit to wait for her to get out.

She was so close, until the unthinkable happened. An alarm sounding caught everyone off guard. I looked behind me to see many B.O.Ws being let in. I grab my gun and fend them off.

Y/n finally comes through the door and yelps when she sees them. I grab her hand and we run for the armory. The way to the armory was crowded with people trying to run for their lives instead of grabbing a gun.

This was why I hated people.

As we ran she looked back and saw Hunnigan. She screamed and it made me turn around. Hunnigan was being attacked. She had nowhere to go. Her last glance was to Y/n. She screamed in pain and they all crawled over top of her body. Y/n went to run back but I caught her wrist.

"She's gone." I say flatly.

She doesn't reply but follows me anyway.

The last person in her family was just eaten alive before her eyes... Poor girl. We reach the armory doors and Y/n goes and picks up whatever she can. She loads all of her guns, as do I. Once she finishes she glances at the door.

"It's going to be okay, Y/n..."

"No it's not... What if they get you too?"

"They're not gonna get me, I promise." The zombies start banging at the door. Y/n jumps slightly, I take her hand. "We'll get out of here I promise."

She smiles lightly as I lead her to the back of the room, pulling one of the books to show a secret passage way under the building. Hopefully there are no Tyrants or large infected animals like Raccoon. For both our sakes.

She follows me, I can tell how scared she is. She dealt with this in the simulations without fear, but this was real. And she was scared of death.

Once we get to a safer place, I hear her sniffle. I turn to see her tear stained cheeks.

"Hey, don't cry."

She looks away.

"Hunnigan-"

"I know... Trust me, she was a friend of mine too." she looks to me. I sigh softly. I take her hand in mine, pulling her towards me.

"Leon, your the last person I have..."

"I know... I know... I..." I don't know if this is the right time to tell her. I look at our hands. I pull her close to me and place my lips on hers. She makes a surprised sound, but eases into it. She pulls away.

"I love you Leon."

"I've loved you for awhile now,"
