I looked at the dish I was making for Mazey it was supposed to be spicy but since it was for kids I had to remake it twice. Now I had it perfect not hot to cause tears but just enough to tingle the taste buds I have been up since three. I packed it up and packed Mazey a light lunch just in case. I had to get her ready for school.
I went up the stairs and to my bedroom where she was sprawled across the bed. "Mazey it's time for school." I said and her eyes opened and she smiled she had been anticipating this day. She was excited. She got up and according to her she was a big girl and could bathe herself and I let her but I watched her. I rubbed her down with the towel and left her to get ready because I was a hovering parent.
I bathed and washed my hair. I combed it better than when I was going to the hospital. I put on white pants a red blouse and a green jacket. Mexico. I put on green flat shoes and I went back to Mazey who wasn't in her uniform as yet.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"I'm supposed to dress in the colours of the flag." She said.
"Ms. Logan didn't tell me that." I said. I looked at the message of the parents group for the class. "Oh." I said seeing the message. "Fine then." I said digging through her closes I found a white tights, a red shirt that had white butterflies and a little green jacket. "Okay I have it." I got her dressed and she smiled.
"We match." She squealed.
"Yay." I said braiding her hair. "We are ready let's go." I had taken the day because apparently parents had to be present. She followed me downstairs and the interns and Trish had taken up residence at my kitchen counter. "I'm leaving so out now." I said taking up the lunch kit and the food container.
"You two look so cute." Trish said taking out her phone and snapping a picture.
"We match." Mazey said excited.
"Like mother and daughter so adorable." She squealed.
"Don't you have vagina's that need to be looked at?" I questioned.
"I do and I'm just about to leave." She stood. "I think you should take a bottle of wine just in case and tequila." I pushed them out and closed the door.
"Mazey do you have everything?" I asked.
"Yes." She climbed into the car and buckled herself in.
"Goodbye Trish." I said.
"Have a good day." She said as I closed the car door.
"You too." I said and drove away. They were behind me until I turned off for the school. I parked and got out and so did Mazey and she held my hand while we made our way to her classroom that had been decorated. We entered and the teacher smiled at us and came over to us.
"You two look so cute." She cheered.
"We just threw it together." I said.
"She didn't know we were to get dressed up." Mazey accused me.
"Shhh." I told her. "I got the messages but I was too tired to read them if you sent it in an email or personal text I would have remembered but I'm tired." I said.
"I understand." She shook her head. "You can leave and come back." She said.
"No I'm okay I told her I would stay the entire day." I told her.
"That's a big promise." She said.
"I know because I'm a doctor and I'm the head of my department of course I'm going to be paged." I said.
"I think she'll understand." She touched my arm.
"I hope so." I sighed. "Anyways is there anything I can do?" I asked.
