His mother had finally come to visit and she stayed a week, talking only about baby stuff. I was more defined now four months. She brought some baby clothes that she had knitted and I thought they were to die for. She and Rose took Mazey to the park and to different places that Mazey would tell me about later in the night. My feet ached if I stood too long and Eric was telling me to take a leave of absent but I kept ignoring his request.
Trish was looking very pregnant and she still called us the belly buddies, I just went with it. She and Bryan now lived together but I still let the interns live in the back house the extra bedroom empty. Edith fed me all sorts of things that she said and Eric liked when she was pregnant. I didn't like any off it I just wanted a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a foot and back rub.
I didn't want to hurt her feelings so I ate all she gave me but nothing stayed down. She had cleared out the pantry no snacks were left. She said I had to eat healthier that I wasn't eating for myself anymore but I just want peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The night she left I was so happy. She was coming back in a few weeks.
"All I want is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich." I whined to Eric. "Your mother threw everything away. I have nothing." I cried. I was seriously crying. "I just want a sandwich." I sniffled my head in the crook of his neck.
"Do you want me to go out and get it?" He asked.
"No. I want to cuddle." I sniffled.
"Okay." He carried me up to our room.
"I also want a back and a foot rub." I told him. He laid me and the bed and pushed up the shirt, his fingers running over the stretch marks that had been coming up and I shifted but he held me in place and kissed them. He massaged my back and I was in bliss, half asleep when he was done. Miraculous hands. By the time he was done rubbing my feet I was out like a light.
I woke up alone in the bed looking around for Eric. I sat up and stretched he had changed my clothes. I went downstairs but he was gone and so was Mazey but she had been watching cartons the television was still on it. The door opened and Mazey ran in giggling.
"We went to the store in our pyjamas." She said as Eric came around his hands full with bags.
"I wanted to come back before you woke up, but someone got lost in the store." He eyed a giggling Mazey.
"Why'd you go grocery shopping? Your mother went a couple days ago." I reminded him.
"Yes she did, but not for you." He said putting the bags on the counter. "She took all your vices and I went and bought them back." He took out the peanut butter and my toes curled. I got a spoon and dug in it, moaning at its goodness. He looked at m curiously. "Are you..." He trailed off when Mazey came back in the kitchen with her stuffed insect. I knew what he was about to ask. He wanted to know if I was aroused.
"Yes I am. I always am." I licked the spoon.
"Okay." He smirked. Rose came right after Eric was finish stocking the pantry. I didn't put down the peanut butter I took it to work with me. That's all I wanted and apple juice. At lunch I must have looked like a lunatic. My peanut butter in one hand and my apple juice in the other.
"For me it's yogurt and sardines." Trish sat down. "It's so gross but yet so delicious." She laughed.
"Eric's mother was all about eating healthy and I do eat healthy I just need my weird cravings to be satisfied." I licked the peanut butter.
"Where is Eric?" She asked.
"He's a very busy man. Has hearts to save." I shrugged.
"I haven't had a good surgery in months." She said.
"Neither have I." I said sadly. We ate our lunches then I went to take a nap in my office. I was called a couple times but nothing major no one needing surgery.
We drove home in silence my peanut butter finished and I was satisfied. We did the usual things we do every night when we came except sex he was still not into the idea. We had another doctor's appointment tomorrow the baby was kicking and moving a little so it was a possibility that he wasn't breached.
"I have a name." Eric said suddenly, I looked at him confused. "Nathan." He said.
"That's nice and we can nickname him Nate." I said and he nodded his head in agreement. "Nathan Gold-Heart." I said the name. It sounded good.
"So we are hyphenating our children's names."
"Yes and I sounds really nice." I said turning of the lamp.
"Supposed I don't want him to have a hyphenated name?" He asked.
"Why wouldn't you want a hyphenated name?" I asked.
"It's too much imagine learning to spell two last names." He said.
"It's not like it's long." I said. "I want him to have my name." I argued.
"Can't it be like a middle name?" he asked.
"No. His middle name will be Theodore." I switched on the light.
"Theodore sounds snobbish." He said.
"Take it back!" I yelled at him. "It means person of wealth." I said.
"See snobs."
"I'm not a snob." I hissed.
"I didn't say you were." He said.
"You just insinuated it." I said.
"God fine you can name him Theodore." He rolled his eyes. I glared at him and then turned my back to him and turned out the light. He turned off his light and pulled me in to him. "Snob." He said and I elbowed him.
I was early this time and this time my pants could stay on. I was waiting for the doctor to come. They usually allowed residents to do this but an attending was doing it just to be sure. The doctor came in with my chart and Eric held my hand.
"Good morning, Dr. Gold and Dr. Heart." She was very polite.
"Good morning." We said.
"How have you been feeling?" She asked lifting my shirt.
"Some pain in the abdomen." I told her.
"Alright let's take a look." She squirted the cold substance over my belly and I shivered. She got the scope and rubbed it over my belly looking at the screen. "Mhmm." She looked on.
"Is he okay?" I asked.
"Just a minute." She said. She looked on and I was beginning to worry now. "Okay." She turned the screen for us to look at. "He still has time but I guess he just likes laying across your abdomen." He was still breached but he was getting bigger. "Sometimes breach babies move around and just go back to a position they find comfortable." She continued. "He might just move when it's time for you to give birth. Which is in..." she looked at her chart. "The third of February." She said.
"A few weeks after my birthday." I said.
"Your next appointment is in four weeks." She told us, while I wiped the jell off my stomach.
"Thanks." Eric said when we were leaving the examination room.
