"Hello?" I answered the phone.

"Kasey-Ann it's Evelyn Casper." I drew in a breath.

"Wrong number." I hung up. I wasn't supposed to let them take her I promised or they'd destroy her like they did the other children. The phone rang again it must be her calling again. I put the phone on silent and let it continue ringing.

"Hey your phone is ringing." Eric said.

"It's nobody." I said. I was her legal guardian on both sides of her parents they can't take her.

"Kasey." He snapped his fingers to my ears and I looked up.

"Yes?" I questioned. Why was he even here?

"You called for a consult." He said.

"I did?" I questioned.

"Yes." He said.

"Oh yea." I looked up at the x-ray pictures. "Oh yea I did." I said snapping back to reality. "Can you assist in my surgery?" I asked. "My patient is a fifteen year old that weights four hundred pounds and his arteries are clogged and about to burst. You're the last person I need we have a plastic surgeon already." I said.

"What time?" He asked. I looked down at the phone that had stop blinking.

"At one." I told him.

"Okay I think I'm free." He said.

"Okay." I said and left.

"Kasey are you alright?" He fell in step with me.

"Yea I'm fine my mind is just busy." I said.

"Okay." He said and fell behind. They were drunks and drug abusers and Joanna was the only one of their six kids that didn't turn to that life. Yet they were still alive and she had died of cancer when she had stayed clean. Life wasn't fair. What did she want?

I tapped the pen on the chart my mind so far that someone had to wave their hand over my face to get my attention. I looked at them and smiled. It was Dr. Stein. "Dr. Stein hello." I said.

"Are you feeling well?" He asked.

"I'm great." I lied.

"You look pale." He said.

"Haven't been getting any sun." I said.

"Is there something bothering you?" He asked.

"No I'm good." I lied.

"If you need to talk you know where my office is." He said. I'm afraid my dead sister in laws parents know that Kyle is dead and want to take Mazey away from me and she is all I have left in my family.

"No I'm fine." I repeated. I have to call my lawyers for reassurance.

"Okay." He said. I went back to the Paediatric floor and waited for my next patient. It was a little girl with her father. Pink stained her cheeks.

"Dad you can leave now." She said.

"My daughter has a need for these items." He brought forth a bad of feminine products. "But I don't know how to explain it to her." He said.

"Oh I understand." I smiled at her. "Sir seeing as your daughter is finding this uncomfortable with you here I'm asking you to wait outside." I told him.

"Okay." He said and left. She breathed out and smiled.

"It just us my mom died a few years ago and he tries but its suffocating." She opened up to me. I didn't have that parental care I was pushed into medical school I wasn't given a choice.
