The last months have flown by faster than they should. Mazey going into the second grade, both of us were there for that happy that she moving ahead and her teacher said she was wise beyond her years. Eric's birthday which we celebrated being locked in our room for the whole day, even with me being very pregnant. Thanksgiving were his family came to visit and his mother doing a delicious meal which she let me watch her prepare.
No one wanted me to help so I just watched and became a conversationalist. Trish was due in a few weeks and I was on her phone three. Eric's loud mouth fellow was now an attending and he wasn't that bad, we became sort of friends. The baby was still breached and so I was scheduled for a C-Section. Trish had joked about airbrush and I had gotten rid of the stretch marks. Eric wanted them to stay but I told him he'd see them again.
"So Kasey love have you finished decorating the nursery yet?" Edith asked.
"Yes. Eric finished it a few weeks ago." I answered. He had made it his task to paint the nursery blue and he and Mazey had a grand time doing it.
"Have you guys finally decided on a name?" she asked.
"Not yet." I admitted. My phone vibrated on the counter it was Trish. "Hi Trish." I greeted.
"Caleb is making is big debut." She groaned.
"I'm coming." I said. I found Eric he and his sister were laughing she wasn't so cold towards me anymore. I held my belly and walked over to them. "Eric we have to go." I said. "Trish's baby is coming right now." I told him.
"Can I come with you guys?" Erica asked.
"Sure." I said.
"Mom we are going out, we'll be back soon." Erica yelled and we were out the door. The baby was kicking up a storm this is how he behaved when he was excited. I rubbed my belly trying to calm him down. We were at the hospital in record time. He helped me out and we went up to the maternity ward. Trish and Bryan were on the corridor she was holding on to his shoulder.
"Oh god it hurts." She said when the contraction passed. They were a few minutes apart, the doctor told her to get up on the bed.
"She's eight centimetre's dilated. On the next contraction push." He said to her. She held on to Bryan and I hands and pushed. She screamed and begged them for drugs but she couldn't get it now. "Push." The doctor yelled and she did.
"I can't." Her voice raspy and she was sweating profusely.
"Trish you have to." I told her. "Just think about the benefits." I said.
"What?" She questioned.
"You'll have a beautiful baby and they'll have to tighten your vagina." I smiled. She laughed at the last part.
"Push." The doctor yelled again. She screamed and pushed. "He's crowning." He said. "One big push." He said.
"Okay." Her voice a whisper.
"Push." He said and she pushed tears running out her eyes. The doctor held the baby in his hands as he cried. "A healthy baby boy." He said and handed to baby to a nurse for check-up. She let go of my hand and looked at Bryan lovingly. The nurse came back with the baby and gave him to Trish. I slowly backed out of the room giving them their privacy.
"What happened?" Eric asked.
"The baby is fine." I told him sitting down. "Uhmph." The baby kicked.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
"I'm not going into labour." I told him. "He's just kicking really hard. Uhmph." He rubbed my belly.
"Are you sure because now would be a good time." He said.
"No I'm not." I said. The doctors did what they had to do with Trish and they rolled the baby off to the Nic-U. Trish as sleeping when we were allowed to go in.
"That's a very versatile hole." Bryan whispered and I laughed. We stayed with her for a couple more minutes before leaving. When we got home dinner was on the table but Mazey had been sent off to bed. I sat down and ate the baby still kicking. I laid on my back while Eric got ready for bed. I rubbed my stomach and shifted every time.
"Is he still kicking?" He asked looking at my stomach.
"Yes." I answered. He turned me on my side and used his finger to circle my navel. I hummed as the baby calmed down and I could finally sleep.
I woke up the Eric's morning wood like most mornings. I was heavy set I couldn't make any moves other than grind on him. His hands travelled over my body and he pulled down my undies. We had been having side sex for a few months now. The first time was difficult but now it was much easier. I moved my leg and he slowly made his way inside.
"Mhmm." I hummed as he moved and kissed my neck. Someone knocked on the door and he stopped.
"Trish called and asked what time are you coming?" His mother was at the door.
"Soon." He answered.
"Okay." She said and left and I snickered. We finished and then got ready for the day. He got Mazey ready we were going to let her see the baby which she was excited to see. We ate breakfast and then left.
We looked for Trish's room Mazey got the baby a balloon. We found her and she was holding her baby her family was finally here. She waved for us to come in. She handed me the baby while Bryan and Eric talked on the hall and bro hugged. Caleb was asleep he was so tiny.
"Do you want to hold him?" I asked Eric.
"He's not even bigger than a loaf of bread." He said adjusting the baby in his big arms. We stayed and talked with Trish before going on rounds.
Trish was discharged a few days after happy to take home Caleb. Before his parents and sister left again we had a really big dinner that was towards, new family, old family and family that was yet to be conceived. It was a nice jester I think his mother was hinting that after this baby is born I should go and get pregnant again. At least a year apart.
I kissed the Heart's goodbye and they all gave me tight hugs. Mazey liked Trish's especially poking him and watching him eat. Then the question came up again and I told her that the baby was coming in a few weeks.
Christmas dinner was just like Thanksgiving I was still very pregnant with a watermelon pressed up against my bladder. The Heart's came back and I sat at the counter and watched Edith work and Erica help.
"Nathan." I said she was always asking.
"That's a nice name." She smiled.
"Eric chose it." I said. "We'll call him Nate." I said.
Dr. Nelson had a little thing for Erica and she him so I set them up. He has been forever grateful, I told Eric and he did the brother thing and warned Dr. Nelson not to hurt his sister or he'll go missing. The baby was behaving very nice a few kicks here and there. The closer I got to my due date the more I worried. I know I shouldn't be but I was, he was breached a lot of things could happen he could become oxygen deprived; some idiot might cut him during the C-Section.
Someone touched my shoulder and looked up at Eric. "Are you okay?" He asked.
"Just a lot on my mind." I said.
"Are you thinking about the C-Section again?" He asked.
"Of course I am." I said.
"They are good doctors." He reminded me.
"Good doctors don't cut baby hands." I said.
"But nervous ones do." He said.
"I'm just really scared." I admitted. "If I was doing it the natural way I'd be okay but a C-Section so many things can go wrong." I said.
"It'll be okay." He smoothed down my hair. "Do I have to show you how okay it will be?" He smirked.
"Maybe." I giggled. He lift me off the stool and I wrapped my hands around his neck as he carried me up the steps. He threw me on the bed and I squealed. He locked the door and began stripping.
