"You don't have to take care of me." I sniffled.
"It's okay." He smiled. "Now drink your soup." He said and I did as he said.
"Did Trish put you up to this?" I asked.
"No. I'm doing this because I am a good person." He said.
"Okay." I coughed. He took my temperature and looked at it and smiled.
"Your fever is breaking which is good news." He said.
"Thank god." I sighed.
"I don't mind taking care of you." He said. He had his hand on my cheek stroking it with his thumb, we looked at each other his thumb moving to my lips parting them and tracing them. My breathing slowed and I waited for something to happen but then he moved his hand. "After all I'm a doctor." He sighed and took up the empty containers and left the room.
"Wow." I breathed out.
He had carried Mazey to school for me before he went to work and then Rose carried her home and made more soup for me, which she didn't have to do. Eric and I had hardly spoken while I was sick it was just so weird sometimes and I didn't push him and he didn't push me. I was all better in a matter of days.
I was doing rounds when I got paged to the front desk. I delayed it for a while finishing up my rounds and checking the boards to see what exciting surgeries was taking place but nothing I hadn't seen already.
"Dr. Gold." He said and walked by.
"Dr. Heart." It was so formal.
"What's up with you two?" Trish came up beside me.
"Nothing is up. Just two colleagues passing each other in the halls." I said.
"You two are so sad." She sighed.
"We are not we just prefer to keep it professional." I said.
"Bullshit." She said. "When will you two admit that you like each other and date?" She asked.
"We don't like each other." I told her.
"I'm not a genius like you but I'm not stupid either." She walked with me.
"Office romance never last." I told her.
"So you do like him." She smirked.
"I didn't say that."
"You didn't say you didn't." She looked at me and I smiled.
"Trish just let sleeping dogs sleep." I warned her.
"No." She folded her arms. "Eric might be your knight in shining armour. You said you believe in love then why do you keep fighting it. Eric is perfect." She did have a point but I couldn't pull myself to go out with him. Nothing was wrong with him it's just he and I are damaged goods. "Where are we going?" She asked.
"Receptionist." I told her.
"Okay." She said. "Please give him a chance. He might be Romeo and you might be Juliet." She said all lovingly.
"You know they die in the end right?" I reminded her.
"Bonnie and Clyde." She offered.
"They died too." I shrugged.
"But they were bad ass." She pointed out.
"And they died." I reminded her. We reached the receptionist. "You paged." I said and she called over the person's that requested me and my heart was about to explode when I saw them. They looked just a vicious like the last time I saw them. My feet were glued to the floor I kept telling myself to move but I was glued to the spot.
