I stared at the cold piece of metal in my hand. How could something so small and fragile looking have such an immense influence on my life. Thinking of all the insults I got today my mind skips to when Luke asked me if I was okay. Those endearing eyes staring into mine, maybe he was being sincere. No, no of course he wasn't he asked me on a dare or something.Tears springing to my eyes, I let one drop and it falls onto my hand. Wiping the wet off my hand I bring the razor down to my thigh and slice deep, the pain calming me, making me feel numb. I slice at my skin again and again, until I am so exhausted I can barely put the bandages over my pudgy thigh. I collapse on my bed and fall asleep.

The reassuring "Rose wake up!" comes from my door, again mother is yelling at me to get up. I sit up and hear her walking down the stairs and out the front to go to work. Putting my hair up in a messy bun today I choose a Pierce the Veil t-shirt with acid wash jeans and a leather jacket to wear to school. Slipping on my boots I deliberately don't grab a lunch again.

The bus pulls up and like yesterday it's filled with many kids who seem to all be screaming even though it isn't even 8:00 in the morning. I scan the bus, and see that Luke is staring at me again. What was his problem? Maybe he was planning some prank to play on me, wouldn't be the first time anyone has done that. So I choose to ignore him for the rest of the bus ride, turning up my music and cutting off the world and having a slice of safety for a moment.

"-and w the projects will be done in partners," my science teacher Mrs. Hill says. I internally groan because I work better alone but most of the kids in my class say a small 'yesss' under their breaths.

"Don't get too excited I'm choosing the partners," Mrs. Hill says laughing and the class (including me) groans.

"The partners will be Josh and Tristana..." and she goes on, me not paying attention because my name will probably be around the bottom of the list.

"- and Rose will be partnered with Luke." My eyed widen and I look behind me to see Luke staring at me once again but this time with a smile on his face.
