People say that you should listen to what society chooses,
Like what you say and what you do.You should fix your hair a certain way,
But not every day, or they'll tell you
That you don't belong,
Like you don't deserve a chance. And society realizes that what once was there
Now has disappeared. They'll tell you that you're pretty,
Then they'll go and break your heart. They'll destroy you like they went to trees,
They'll tear up your leaves, branches, and bark. They don't care what you wear,
As long as they choose,
'Cause allowing you to just be you
Is something they don't like to do.Society says you need to dress a certain way
And that you need to wear make-up every single day.But don't listen to what society says,
Because you are unique in every way,
And you are beautiful just the way that you are, every day.So I actually wrote this in 2017 and entered it into a poetry contest and it later got published in a book in 2018.
