Oh would you look at that
Here I go again
Ranting to myself
To make me feel whole again.
I wonder how you're doing.
How you feel right now-
Are you smiling with joy
Or crying out loud?
Did you get enough to eat today,
Or did you sit all meals out?
Did you say hey to your family,
Or stay in your room in doubt?
Have you thought of me at all,
Or am I nothing more to you?
A distant cloud,
Floating around of memories of us two.
The date came up once more,
And again I'm reminded of you.
I thought I shut out the part of my heart,
That seemed connected to you,
But my brain will never let me forget,
The love I felt and the strength I gained.
Altogether, the love built someone new,
Another image of the girl I was to you.
This new girl was beautiful,
Confident,
And free.
And it will forever make me wonder,
How that became me.
Your departure will never be forgotten,
And I will never lose hope.
Because in you I saw the future,
And the promise of love.
In you resides the love I gave,
For you to always have.
That love is like a tether,
Reaching back.
Because of the rope I gave you,
That leads directly to my heart,
I trust that the rope will bring you back,
To the start.
If you pull too hard,
I'm scared I may break,
But if my heart crashes,
And your safety is at stake,
I'll place the love on you once more,
So you can carry on another day.
