"Love is the answer to everything. It's the only reason to do anything." ~ Ray Bradbury.

Like a small boat on the ocean, Sending big
waves into motion, I hear my phone ringing waking me from my sleep. I pinch my eyes open to read the caller's ID and realize that it is Emily.

"Hey girl. What you doing?" She asks from the other end of the line.

"Uh-m, nothing. You just woke me up." I respond with my crack voice.

"There's this party keeping at Ethan's. Can you come?" She asks and I go silent. Call me boring, but I've never been to a party before, except birthday parties and I still haven't been to one of those for years. I am thinking of the most polite way to turn down her offer when she breaks me out of my silence.

"Jake and I are going." She adds, hoping to boost me in saying yes.

"I am thinking about reviewing Calculus." I say politely turning down her offer.

"Ple-asee! You know you should put yourself out there and have some fun once in a while. I'm sure your bedroom won't mind."

"Fine." I sigh in defeat.

"Great. I'm driving so I'll pick you up. Be ready by 8." She says excitedly before ending the call.

It is now seven pm.

I have enough time.

I never imagine that the first party I'd go to would be Ethan's, especially after what happened earlier today at the school. I really don't want to go, but I'm only going for the sake of Emily, us girls have to stick together.

I tie my hair in a messy bun, undress and went straight to the shower. The water is the right temperature, but I move quickly remembering that I am working with time. After a few minutes, I'm finish with my shower. I wrap my towel around my torso and head towards my bedroom closet.

I don't usually go to parties so I am puzzled about what to wear. I settle with a beige dress that falls on top of my knee and has sleeves that nearly reaches my elbow. I finish it off with my white sandals, apply a touch of lipgloss and pull my hair in a ponytail.

I think it's obvious that I don't have a taste for fashion, but I'm pretty comfortable in what I wear.

Feeling pleased with myself, I take a final look in the mirror before heading downstairs.

I head to the kitchen to write a note for my mom just in case she gets home before me and starts to wonder where I am.

Went out with Emily and Jake. I write on a sticky pad.

As I'm about to stick the note to the fridge, I realize that my mom had left me a note.

Will be working late. Don't wait up, the note reads.

I stick my note to the fridge and skip towards the door at the sound of the door bell. I open it to see Emily and Jake holding hands on the porch. I swear they are the cutest thing.

Emily is wearing a white crop top and denim jeans that fits perfectly on her slim body. Her brown hair is pulled into a ponytail, exposing her grey eyes that shines in the light.

Jake is wearing a blue skinny jeans with a plain black shirt. His brown hair is neatly combed.

"You're bringing a book?" Emily asks with a disturbed look on her face.

"You never know what can happen." I respond whilst making my way to her black Honda Fit, trying to avoid her talking me out of bringing my book.

"Do you even know where Ethan lives?" I ask Emily, due to the many wrong turns that she has already made. If this was like the wrong turn movie, hell we would have been killed three times over and more.
