Charlotte's P.O.V
I felt my feet cold.
"Oh don't worry, I'm not like the others. I don't hurt people. Although, It's a wonder why they still have not sensed you yet," she muttered.
Aware that she hadn't yet harmed me, I had a little trust in her. Just A LITTLE.
"I was running away from there," I answered pointing at the direction where I came from.
"Why are you running away?" she asked.
"Uh, well, I was held captive," I answered.
"And why were you held captive?" she asked.
"I don't know. That's why I ran away," I answered.
"Well I can help you," she said.
I swallowed, "Y-you'll help me?"
"Yeah, but for two conditions," she held her two fingers up. Still floating in the air.
"And those are?" I asked, feeling nervous.
"First, play with me," she showed me a cheeky smile.
My face fell, the last thing I had thought after seeing a ghost was to play with them. People seeing ghosts normally runs away. I was gonna do that but knowing that it was hopeless and futile, I dismissed it. But this ghost was asking me to play with her. And when she says play, she also is asking me to stay here forever. Do you really think that she'll let me go?
"A-Alright. What shall we play then?" I asked, trembling.
Sweat is slowly forming on my forehead, with it being cold on my back.
"Tag," she answered.
I slowly nodded, "Okay, who's it then?"
"Let's decide with rock paper scissors," she happily answered as she held up her hands ready to play.
"Alright."
After playing all those games this floating creature wanted, I felt myself exhausted. The surrounding is a little brighter than awhile back. I wonder what time it is now. This is bad. This is really really bad. I am utterly tired but taking a rest means telling these souls to eat me. And I had never in a million years thought of me dying because of ghosts. But I guess things happen when we least expected it nor even expected it.
"I had a lot of fun. I want to play more," she flew around.
"I want to play more too but I no longer can. I'm sorry but I'm already worn out," I said as I sat below a tree leaning on it's trunk.
She frowned, "Well, that can't be helped. Mortals are weak. Fine, I'll lead you the way out of here as promised."
My eyes went wide but said nothing. I blinked a couple of times to know that I wasn't hallucinating, and I wasn't so I stood up and followed her. Even if my feet were wobbling and my body felt heavy, I still pushed myself. Hoping that maybe, just maybe, I have a chance of getting out of here.
After a while, I heard a sound of water gushing, like those of a river. I silently shook my head, maybe I'm just hearing things . But the sound never went away, instead, it became louder. And before I knew it, I am standing in front of a river.
"We're here!" she chirped.
Relief washed over me but I remembered that she has another condition.
"And what is your second condition?" I asked the ghost floating in front of me.
She gave me a sad smile, "Will you promise to come and visit me again?"
I was taken aback. I was a bit hesitant but seeing her sad smile just kind of pushed me to saying my next words.
