christmas was the time of year that everyone loved. the lights. the food. the romance. the decorations. but sam and colby, they love it a little more than everyone else. and this year they were spending the holiday together. no friends. no family. just them. and they loved it. sam went out and bought all the ingredients for the food and for baking. and colby took all the decorations out of the storage room and brought them into the living room. along with the christmas tree they've decorated together for years. after sam had everything purchased and brought up stairs, they started on the food. which consisted of colby throwing food everywhere and sam having to clean up behind him. but they had fun. the food ended up taking a while to cook. so they changed into their pajamas and started sorting through the decorations. they started out with things they could place in little spots around the house. Colby taking things out the boxes and handing them to sam as sam looked for the perfect places for the little trinkets. they played christmas music and enjoyed each other's company. the food finished, so sam took everything and wrapped it up and put it into the refrigerator for tomorrow morning. by that time it was time to decorate the tree. colby helped sam move it into the corner. sam picked up a box full of lights and ornaments. he gently untangled a line of lights. he handed colby one end and started to wrap the lights around the tree. each time sam passed colby, he would stop doing the lights long enough to leave a lingering kiss on his boyfriends cheek. when sam finished wrapping the lights he walked over to colby, who looked like a kid in a candy shop. his eyes reflecting the lights and his mouth stretched into a gentle smile. to sam, he was absolutely beautiful. sam wrapped his arms around colby just as a slow tempo song started playing. colby snapped out of his trance and wrapped his arms around sams waist. pulling sam closer. they gently swayed to the music for a while and then the song ended. sam pulled his head off colby's chest and kissed the tip of colby's nose. which made colby let out a laugh that absolutely melted sams heart. he smiled at him then walked back over to the tree to start on the ornaments. colby did the left side of the tree and sam did the right side. as they were almost finished, colby and sam each reached for the same ornament. the one they had used to deacorate their tree for the first time so many years ago. they looked up at each other and broke into smiles. colby thought it was impossible to fall more in love than he already was. but he was proven wrong. sam blushed a little and grabbed the ornament. colby had a playful pout on his face. but sam turned and looked at colby. he moved to the middle of where their decorations met, and placed the ornament directly in the middle. he stepped back and looked at the tree. it was perfect. as he was admiring the tree, he felt a pair of arms slip around his waist. he leaned into the touch and felt colby lean his head in the crook of his neck.
~ " I love you." colby whispered against sams neck.
" I love you more." sam whispered. just as quiet and gentle.
they finished decorating after a while. the rest of the night consisted of constant cuddles as they ended up falling asleep, legs tangled with each other's, watching christmas movies. they couldn't have been happier.
