1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 miles away from my home...

Heavy rain continues to fall.

The car's whipping the way.

My eyes are getting heavier.

I just want to stop all these things.

I wish I just...

DIED!

--

"We're here." I heard he said. I see him made a glance on me on the front mirror but I just ignored. I steady myself looking outside, wondering how am I be able to get out from this town.

After a few minutes, a different voice came into the scene.

"They're here!" screamed by a short, stout, mid-40s look of a woman that I have only seen for the first time. She waved from the big door of the house. She smiled at me but I refuses to give back a nice smile. Then I heard a big slam of the car's door. He went inside the house as he gives the key to the male attendant waiting beside the new lady.

She sighed. "Just act friendly. Please, Riley."

And i was there, left alone inside.

--

"I'm famished, prepare the dinner!" he ordered as he sat lazily on the couch.

I stared at him blankly. I'm tired fighting. I just want to rest. I want to sleep all these things.

She nods. Before she assist herself all the way to kitchen, she went towards me. "Your room's on the left beside the staircase. Here's the key. Just make yourself comfortable. We'll see you at dinner."

"And don't forget to make up your mind, young lady. It's not your home anymore, for you to be informed."

"Robert. Stop it!"

"She have to know. She should be thankful anyway. We're here to adopt her."

I want to scream.

I want to cut his throat so he could stop making fool of himself.

Stop him from all his admonishments.

But I can't.

I'm exhausted.

I went to my room. I cast all my things on the floor and I just cried all night.

--

I woke up early.

"They're right, I need to move on. Right now."

I fix my bed and put out all my stuff from my bags and neatly position it on the 'Great Cabinet'. I changed my clothes and braided my hair. After a few minutes, I headed to the kitchen where I found the new lady.

"Ms. Riley, what do you want for breakfast?" she inquires as she places all the roses - in combination of white and yellow - on the flower vase on the center table.

I smiled at her. "Just call me Rye."

"Rye?"

I nodded as she reply me with a smile. I answered her question earlier. "I want something heavy. I forgot to take my dinner last night."

"We can figure something for that. For now, have yourself take a seat. Your order will be placed for a minute or so."

 "Thanks"

She release the pan from the cabinet and put it on fire. I watch her as she do all the whisks, fry, mix, and table setting. I remember my Mom at her... with all the cooking. Mom's not stout or small but a petite one, she's also way younger than her.

"By the way, where are they? It's only 7." I disturbed.

"They went to the farm for a while. They'll be back at lunch." she replied without looking at me. She's currently frying the eggs with some bacon beside it.

Then I watched her again.

As she finishes, she handed me a platter. It is filled with two fried eggs, crunchy bacon, waffles, two slices of toasted bread, vinaigrette green salad, and some fresh orange juice.

"Thank you." I said and started eating like a dog.

With my mouth stuffed with all the food, I still make my best to talk to her. "I only saw you yesterday, how long have you been here. And, your name?"

"I'm Rosela Carlos, you can call me Rosa, Rose, anything. I've been here three months ago."

"Ate Rosa. I bet to call you like that."

"Suit yourself."

I reach for my juice and admired her dish. "It's a very nice breakfast. I could live with it forever."

She smiled shyly and continued observing me as I empty the platter. I sip the remaining colored water and clean the outside tip of my mouth with the napkin she offered.

"Anyway, I just want to apologize about yesterday. I was not just in the mood to greet people... warmly. You have a nice smile, I must say."

She just smile, the same smile I turn down yesterday. "I know what you've been up to lately. We're here to help you move on, if that helps."

I breathed sharply and look her in the eyes. "I appreciate."
