After saying goodbye to my parents, I bump into Hannah. "Hey!" I shriek. "Hi!" she says smiling. She turns back once more to send another wave at a youngish looking woman. "Is that your mom?" I wave too. "Yep. The one and only." We link arms and walk to look for our friends.

We find Susan and Anna already in a cart. "Can we join you?" I ask. They look up and smile in surprise. After we all reunite, Cedric calls as he pushes open the door to our cart. "Hey strangers."

Both Susan and Anna smile at his charm. I roll my eyes. For once we didn't carpool here. I haven't actually seen Cedric that much this summer. He's been busy, or so he's told me.

Following Cedric is a brown eyed, brown slicked back hair guy. "You guys remember my roommate, Justin right?" After an awkward pause, Anna reaches to shake his hand.
"I'm Anna" She says smiling like she's won an award.
He smiles. "Justin Finch-Fletchley."
"Big name." She comments.
Justin. chuckles. "I suppose."

Before anyone else says anything Cedric pushes him to another cart. "Well we've got cooler people waiting on us." "Ouch." I say in a joking tone even though I don't feel like he's joking. Cedric shoots me his 'knock it off look.'

"We gotta go, see you guys later." As the boys rush away a small girl makes her way down the aisle. "Luna?" I call out. She turns to look at me. "Oh hi Lottie. Hi Anna." she says coyly. "Do you want to sit with us?" I ask. She nods and sits next to me.

"Oh by the way, this is Hannah and Susan. Hannah and Susan....Luna. I say turning between the two of them. They all smile at each other.

Luna loses her shyness and starts in on an interesting story about how one time she left the wrong cookies out for some particularly unforgiving fairies. Anna and I munch on our truffles from the candy trolley, seemingly unbothered. While Hannah and Susan try their best to give Luna their full attention.

When we get to Hogwarts, we all wish Luna the best of luck at the sorting ceremony. And then run to catch up with the second year ahead of us. We finally get to go in the carriages and not boats this year. We get split up, Hannah and I in one and Anna and Susan in another.

Once in the castle I make my way to the Hufflepuff table. "Lottie!" Susan calls, sitting at our usual spot. I love having a usual spot. "Hey guys! How was the last 5 minutes?" I ask cheerily. "Too long without you." Anna coos sadly. Hannah chuckles at Anna's theatrics.

We are interrupted by the sorting ceremony. Right before they start, Cedric and Justin come tiptoeing in late. Cedric sits right next to Susan and Justin slides in next to me on the other side of the table. "Where were you two?" I ask curiously. "Professor Sprout wanted to talk to us." Cedric says without meeting my eyes. I turn to look at Justin who shoots me a big grin.

I look and see Professor Sprout nestling herself in her seat. She just arrived. When she meets my glance she also smiles wide. I have this aching feeling she asked Cedric and Justin to look out for me.
