Getting to the Yule Ball was beyond exciting

Getting to the Yule Ball was beyond exciting. Everyone looked so glamourous. I was starting to think Hogwarts was as special as these other schools. They seemed to outdo us in every expected way, but nobody could party like us. I walked down the stairs and turned towards my friends. "Should we just go in or wait?" I ask.

Anna shrugged. "I kinda want to go see the decorations." Justin took a step in front of her and offered his arm. "Then that's what we'll do." he said.

Anna turned back to look us, but we all smiled and nodded telling it was okay. She deserved some moments of bliss without us hovering.

"I guess I should wait for Ernie." Hannah said unenthusiastically. I chuckle. "I'll wait with you. But you guys can go in, if you want." Susan and some of the Ravenclaw girls we know, Lisa and Mandy linked arms and giggled as they headed in.

"Do you think she likes one of them?" Hannah asks me. I squint. "Maybe? I don't know. We should probably just ask." Hannah smiles.

"Excuse me? I am looking for someone." I turn to see Seamus standing in his dress robes. "She's about yay high" Seamus says putting his hand out to indicate my slightly shorter height. "...brown hair, big smile."

I brush some of my long hair behind my ear and smile. "Strange. Haven't seen her." Seamus bites his lip. "It's just as well. She's probably busy, saving the world. You know. The usual?"

I can't help but shake my head. I look up to see Professor McGonagall and Professor Sprout whispering and sending glances our way.

"Don't worry about it. They gossip about all their students." I look at Seamus as he offers me his arm. I take it gently. "I'll see you in a bit, Han." Seamus leads me inside.

Everything is beautiful and icy. Seamus and I start in on talking and it doesn't seem to stop. Each of us talking about our friends and family. We hear a trumpet and realize we have to stand for the champions entrance.

It's no surprise Cho looks like a goddess. I catch Cedric's eye and smile at him. He looks surprised to see me. I'm not sure why. Maybe it's just because I'm all dressed up, but it's almost as if he has to do a double take.

I actually do do a double take when Hermione Granger walks in with Viktor Krum. She looks beautiful. I am not surprised he took a liking to her.

The champions start the first dance and then Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall join them. The sign for all couples to get on the floor. Seamus and I both give a nervous laugh and don't join until the band starts to rock out. Then we laugh and scream with the band.

For once, I feel like a normal teenager.

Overall the night flies by, Seamus puts me at ease. I always knew I liked Seamus as a friend. But after last year, the crush I have had on him seems to be growing.
