Standing in Cross Station felt weird

Standing in Cross Station felt weird. Something I had done time and time again. "I wish we didn't have to leave you." I say to my mom. My mom's eyes look sad. She pulls me and Anna in for a hug. "I wish that too. But Hogwarts is where you belong. I'm sure you'll feel better the second you see your friends."

My dad tugged on the end of Anna's hair. "And write to us if you need anything even just a hello or money for a new book. Anything. Because that's normal." Anna smiled and then gave him a hug too.

Now we were tricking ourselves into feeling normal. They knew too. The death eaters reappearing meant something dark was looming in the shadows.

My parents had sat Anna and I down after the World Cup and explained who and what the death eaters really were. We both knew bits and pieces but to now know the evil they inflicted was terrifying.

The train's steam was pumping, indicating we were out of time. With teary eyes and lingering hugs, Anna and I stepped away onto the train. It started to move as it pulled away.

"You and me?" Anna asked.
"Always." I say and I give her hand a squeeze.

We walked thru the corridors until we found Susan and Luna. We stepped in. "Hey strangers." I said with some pep. They both looked up from their books. "Oh my goodness. There you are." They both stand and hug us. I slip next to Luna. "Where's Hannah?"

"She went to get something from the trolley. Neville walked by and said he was going so she offered to go with him." Susan explained.

"That's sweet!" I say. Luna links arms with me and rests her head on my shoulder. "I missed you." she whispers. I suddenly feel a pain of guilt. Luna was one of true friends at Hogwarts. But I realize maybe Luna has been more of a friend to me than I've been to her.

I know the kids in Ravenclaw are not exceptionally kind to Luna. I have to make more of an effort to check in with her. "I missed you too."

Anna picked up Susan's book. "Gosh, I forget just how much smarter than the rest of us you are." Susan was about to protest when suddenly the cart door opens. "Ahhh! You guys are here!" Hannah squeals. She plops down on my other side. "Okay now that the gang is all here, I have to tell you what I just witnessed."

Hannah passes us all a piece of candy without us having to ask. I munch on my licorice. "Hi, hello, how are you?" I joke as Hannah had just skipped all pleasantries after not seeing each other for months.

"Hi, hello, how are you, I have to tell you what just happened in front of my eyes." Hannah rushed out. "All right, what happened?" Anna says with a smirk as she gets her licorice strand.

"I just saw Cho Chang making big doe eyes at Harry Potter." I almost choke on my licorice. "What?" Hannah shrugs. "I know. I really thought Cedric had her nailed down but she was all 'uhh the boy who lived *swoon*' I mean really it was over the top."
