A few months of school had passed and it was winter now. I pulled the sweater vest over my head and covered myself with my cloak. "Looks like it's gonna get colder Mochi."  I whispered shuffled through the small closet looking for a blanket. I pulled out a large quilt and wrapped it in a circle on my bed as a make shift pet bed. "Stay warm, I'm off to school!" I looked at the sleeping Mochi. While getting dressed I remembered the serpent tattoo that had appeared on my arm. The rabbit was from Mochi and was for speed. The bird seemed to be for stealth but I had yet to figure out the serpent's purpose. I put my mask on and rushed down the stairs slipping on the hard wood against my socks and landing on something soft.

"Oof!" Wesley groaned. "What the heck?" Recently he had started coming inside to wait for me since it was getting colder.

"Sorry is slipped." I apologized pushing myself off of him.

"It's fine, just be careful, for my sake more than yours." He chuckled.

"Yeah yeah, whatever Wes." I smiled and used his nickname.

We walked to school trying to keep warm. Wesley had a scarf around his neck and I looked at him in envy. There wasn't any snow yet but it was still cold as hell. Actually that place isn't cold. It was very cold in other words. My fingers felt numb as I opened the door to the classroom. After I showed my self defense and fighting skills everyone had become to scared to face me and instead resorted to talking about me behind my back. Most people had grown tired of the rumor anyways and most people figured out it was all lie that I was bullying Alisa since nobody had ever witnessed anything. Alisa still hated my guts but she bugged Wesley and I a lot less and hung around Brandon more often. A lot of people said they had recently started dating. Good thing too since she was really pissing Wesley and I off. The school day seemed to go by quickly and before I knew it, school had let out. Fighting club was held in the large gym the school just about never used but we could f run laps once there was no track. The only people I fueled were Wesley, Coach Larkey and occasionally the idiot who thought they were on my level because they were privately tutored for the sword. I was still undefeated unsurprisingly since everyone here was weak and I had been holding a sword since I was young. Everyone huddled in a group at the end of club and Coach did the usual good work speech about how we could definitely make it to the second round this year in the championships this year and all that stuff. An idea sparked in my head.

"Secret Santa!" I muttered suddenly remembering the tradition from my old world.

"What?" Most of the group said in unison.

"Uh... it's an old family tradition I had where my family would exchange presents... never mind it's a stupid idea." I explained.

"No, it sounds interesting, go on." Wesley encouraged.

"Well... you would get small pieces of paper and write the names of everyone included on them. You then put them in a hat or bowl or something and people take a name out of the hat. Whoever the person gets they have to buy a present for that one person. On Christma- I mean on the 24th of December, you all give the gifts to the person who's name you got." I explained as best as I could. "But I'm sure none of you guys want to do it so..." I quickly added.

"It sounds like a great idea! Someone get me a piece of paper and a bucket from the janitors closet." Coach Larkey commanded.

A short boy scrambled to get everything the coach asked for.

"Well then let's start." Coach Larkey chuckled. He proceeded to write down each of our names on a slip of paper and put it in the bucket. He passed the bucket around and people pulled names.

"I got-" one of them started to say.

"No no wait!" I cut him off. "Don't say it out loud! It's supposed to be a surprise." He nodded in understanding. I unfolded my piece of paper and looked down at it. Great... I got Wesley. What could I possibly get him? I thought hard about it as I walked out the gates with Wesley.

I stared at him out of the corner of my eye as we walked. He always wore the school uniform as expected. He also had his scarf but that was just because it was cold. I recalled that he liked my cooking and came up with the perfect present. Something I had surprisingly never seen in this world... cake!

"Stop staring at me, it's weird." Wesley said awkwardly.

"How did you notice I was looking at you? I was facing forward the whole time and I have my mask on!" I asked confused by his weird ability.

"I dunno, I can just kind of understand what your think I guess? It's more like I can tell your emotions from the way you act... it's hard to explain." He tried while fumbling with his buttons on his cloak. "It's weird, but sometimes I feel like your not even wearing a mask. I know that I've never seen your face but I can kind of read your expressions without having to see them."

I still didn't get it but it didn't matter. "Have you ever eaten something squishy and sweet made with milk?" I asked prying for information on whether or not cake existed I this world.

"Milk? Sweet?" He was clearly confused. "I've never really thought about those things together... I guess there's pie if you mean like squishy fruit and sweetness an I think it has butter in it but I can't think of anything otherwise."

I smiled. I could bake him a cake as his present. Perfect.
