Two Months Later

[E]

''We look great!'' Spencer praised our police costumes as we stood in our dorm room and fixed the last details. Tonight it's Jefferson's well known Halloween party in the gymnasium. One of the few occasions when people that doesn't go to the school are invited, as long as they know someone here.

I haven't been at one before, and something out of the ordinary schedule is exactly what I need at the moment. Things have been really intense lately with everything circling around my grades and working my way up high enough so I can graduate from here in eight months.

''Yeah, you'll definitely get laid tonight.'' I reminded my best friend for the fifth time today. Spencer really worked things up with Aria after I went to her dorm room that evening. Or maybe I should twist it and say that Aria took the first step the next day at the cafeteria. Now they are practically inseparable. I even get to sleep alone a few nights every week, and I'm so thankful. Aria did save me in more than one way by clearing things up with Spencer.

Spencer shot me a smirk and adjusted her tie. ''Do I have to remind you that I got laid like five hours ago?''

''Geez.'' I breathed out in admiration. ''Yet you can't wait for another round, can't you?''

''I can hardly stand still.'' Spencer chuckled and sank down on the floor next to her bed. ''I can't thank you enough for helping me out. I'm not as brave as you are when it comes to feelings. I understand now that I waited too long before I got in touch with her, but I'm trying to convince myself that it's all in the past. Somehow it makes me feel less worthless.''

I buckled the belt around my waist and added handcuffs, a flashlight and a fake gun to it. ''No need to thank me, Spence. I just want you to be happy.''

''You are my best friend, Em. I hope you know that.'' Spencer affirmatively said.

''I do.'' I replied and writhed to thankfully look at the blushing face belonging to the brunette. ''You're my best friend too, Spence.''

Spencer smiled nervously. ''I've never had a best friend before.''

''Neither have I.'' I admitted and sank down across from her on the floor.

''What do you think is a typical thing to do as best friends?'' Spencer asked uncertainly.

I shrugged and stole a glance at the clock. ''Let's start by walking to the Halloween party as colleagues.'' I grabbed the two police caps that were on my bed and forcefully placed one on Spencer's head. ''Let's go, partner.'' I stood up and held out my hand to help her up.

''Thanks for trying to kill me before you helped.'' Spencer joked as we both cracked a laugh. I pulled her up on her feet and we walked out.

Once we were out of our building, we instantly faced three familiar faces. Aria, Sarah and Hanna. Their faces lit up once they spotted us.

''Ouch. Isn't it getting hot out here?'' Sarah commented and immediately intertwined our arms to squeeze my upper arm. ''Very, very hot.'' She whispered and kissed me on the cheek.

''I agree.'' Aria said and basically threw herself in Spencer's arms. ''I'm being seduced by a cop.'' She dramatically said with one hand held gently against her forehead. Spencer on the other hand just chuckled at her girlfriend's behavior.

''I feel like an outsider.'' Hanna spoke up and folded her arms like a spoiled child.

I offered my other arm for the blonde, which she accepted after I winked discreetly at her. We all started walking towards the sports facility, where they had transformed the gymnasium to a scary Halloween party. If it really is scary or not remains to be seen.
