Does Emily have any idea how beautiful she is? I was only able to catch short glimpses of her from the changing room, but it was all I needed to feel my heart beat like crazy. My feelings for this girl is unique.
I had been in love before, but it had never felt like this. Emily was like the hero you only read about in the fairytales. The kind that comes into your life when you least expect it and turn everything upside down.
Unfortunately, all fairytales have their dark sides. I knew it was only a matter of time before Emily would be standing in that courtroom with her future depending on it.
I hope she knows that I am here, and that I will always be here for her. We, like any other couple in the fairytales, have had our ups and downs. But we got through it, together. Her future will be formed based on her earlier actions, and I knew it didn't look bright.
As I peeked out from the changing room once again, I caught Emily chatting with a girl. A blonde I felt like I had seen someplace before. I just couldn't put my finger on where I had seen her. So I did what might would be a stupid choice, but I knew how to play by our own rules.
''I don't understand how she could get so heartbroken, I mean it's not like you gave her any promise or anything.'' I overheard the blonde say as I walked up to them.
Once I had reached them, I gently placed a hand on Emily's shoulder to get her attention. She glanced over her shoulder and down at me. The situation was noted immediately, this girl did not know about us. It's a little scary how Emily and I can have a proper conversation without any of us saying a word.
''Alison, this is Hanna.'' Emily introduced us.
Hanna extended her hand and professionally shook mine as we got eye contact. ''Nice to meet you, Alison. I totally see why Emily hangs out with you, you're like super gorgeous.'' She complimented me.
I chuckled. ''I say the same to you. Seems like she has a type in friends.'' It hurt like hell to call Emily my friend. Sure, it's better than nothing. But once you get used to what we truly are, you can't help but get a little disappointed when you have to lie to everyone about it.
''Yeah. We're definitely the hottest friends she has. I've been trying to tell her that the blonde with blue eyes type is the best, and the bitchiest!'' Hanna praised us and held up her hand to give me a high-five. I could see why Emily had her as a friend. Everyone can use someone with this great attitude.
''That's not even a word, Han.'' Emily pointed out as she face palmed herself. I laughed along with Hanna right after we shared a look that told me something different. Something about the blonde felt.. familiar.
''Where are you from, Hanna?'' I casually asked.
''I'm from New York. How about you?'' Hanna questioned back.
''Same.'' I probably sounded shocked. Because I was. Something so strong reminded me of her. ''How old are you?'' She'll think I'm some sort of freak for asking all these questions, but I have to know where I recognize her from.
''I'm 17.'' Hanna replied. ''Why all these questions? Not that I feel creeped out, you just seem very interested in my life. I'm not used to that.'' Hanna adds with a chuckle.
''It's just that.. you remind me of someone.'' I extracted the sentence as I thought about it.
Hanna squinted her eyes as she studied me from top to toe. ''Well now that you mention it. I kinda recognize you too. How old are you?''
''Um..'' I looked at Emily, who tilted her head a little to the side. It was confirmation that it was okay to tell Hanna my real age. ''I just turned 21.''
''Oh, same as my sister Natasha then.'' Hanna said nonchalantly.
My lips slightly parted as my eyes widened. ''Natasha Marin?''
Hanna's eyes widened as well. ''Yes..?''
''Oh my god! That's where I recognize you from! I went to high school with your sister.'' I exclaimed, feeling relieved that I finally figured it out.
''Oh.. Oh! Then you must be one of the blondes that my sister had sleepovers with like all the time.'' Hanna said and rolled her eyes. Memories probably flooded back into her mind.
''More than once.'' I chuckled and folded my arms. ''How is she doing?''
''Good for all I know. I haven't heard from her for awhile. She's still living in New York with some dude she met at her job.'' Hanna explained and waved it off like it was nothing.
''Sounds classy.'' I said and grinned.
Hanna sighed. ''Tell me about it. And how boring isn't it? All these classy people out there being trapped in their routines. Live, laugh and take risks while you're still breathing. That's my advice.''
''I'm with you.'' I agreed with her.
''And so am I.'' Emily stepped in. Oh, I almost forgot about her being here.
Hanna noticed how shocked I were, so she bursted out laughing. It was like she understood me. Who knows, maybe we'll be friends one day. I hope so.

My phone vibrated in my front pocket. I took it out and looked at the screen. ''Girls. I must take this. Can you handle being alone for a few minutes?'' Alison and Hanna shot me death glares. ''Oh.. Okay. I guess you can.'' I said to myself and walked out of the shop to answer the call.
I held the phone against my ear and made sure no one was standing close by.
''Emily.'' I answered.
''Hi. It's Eric Patowski.''
''Hey, Eric. Any news?''
''Plenty.'' I heard him sigh. ''Both good and bad. Which one would you like to hear first?''
''The good one.''
''Alright. I've been in contact with the police and apparently two of the cases lacks enough evidence to be taken to court, so they are only focusing on the third case now.''
''Really? That sounds.. Too good to be true.''
''I know, right. But it's not. I've gotten it confirmed. But now to the bad thing. The third case has become ten times bigger and the victim even has two witnesses going against you. This means that if there's anything you haven't told me that can be to our advantage in the courtroom, then you must tell me what it is before Tuesday.''
''Why Tuesday?''
''That's the date that is set for you in the courtroom. 11am.''
''Fuck. That's in two days.'' I could feel the frustration grow. ''Thank you for the information. I'll call you if I find anything that could be useful.''
''I really hope you do. It's the only chance we have.''
''I will. Bye for now.'' I said and hung up.
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.
This left me with two choices. I could choose not to tell Eric about my situation at home, which would probably result in me being listed as a criminal since we don't have many other things to go on. Or I could choose to tell him about my past and my family situation and hopefully receive some sympathy in court.
It is a choice, but a vital one.

Should she tell Eric about her situation at home or not?
