The ambulance trip was frantic, Christine was crying and whimpering while she panicked and that worried Stevie and John immensely.  She also started hyperventilating and was being given oxygen to inhale and sedatives that were safe for the babies in an IV line to try and calm her down, she was so worried for her babies, so was John and Stevie.   John hated himself and Stevie was beyond angry that he had decided to tell the truth now, at her wedding and she just hoped Christine would be alright as well as the babies.

Once they arrived to the hospital Christine was whisked off to a room "Mr McVie, its most likely we will have to operate to get the babies out and they will need lots of special care once they are born, we are trying to see how far dilated she is first, in-case she can have them naturally, she may have too yet!" A doctor quickly explained before rushing off.

"She will be terrified, can we go in with her?" Stevie asked shakily and the doctor nodded.

Stevie and John soon hurried in and Christine was still upset and in pain "She is refusing pain relief!" A nurse explained.

"I'm too early!" Christine cried, curling up best she could on the hospital bed and gritting her teeth as the contractions got stronger.

"Mrs McVie, you need to stay calm, the babies will become distressed more and we will have to operate!" The nurse said firmly.

"I don't care, I just need them to be alright, I don't care what happens to me!" Christine winced and started whimpering and the medical staff scurried about.  John just felt sick and was drowning in his own self hate.

Mick, Lindsey, Barbara, Robin and Carol Ann were all hurrying up the hall once they knew where Christine had been taken too and they all tried to get into the room except Lindsey "You aren't allowed in here!" A nurse snapped who was trying to help Christine "She needs to start pushing, she has dilated and the babies are distressed, we need to give her an epidural in case she has to have an emergency C-section!"

Barbara hurried in and sat beside Christine, grabbing her hand "It will be ok, just listen to the staff and just breathe!" she soothed.

Christine cried and did her best to listen to Barbara while Mick, Carol and Robin waited out with Lindsey.

"Aren't they too early?" John asked a doctor as Christine was given the injection.

"Yes but she has to deliver now, we can only hope for the best, they should still be old enough to live but their is a lot of risks and complications!" The doctor explained and then rushed back to Christine.

Stevie felt like she caused it all and started chewing on her thumbnail, worried if she spoke to Christine she would cause her more stress "You can push now!" One of the doctors said getting between Christine's legs.

John sat down on the other side of her and stroked her head.  She was still hurt and upset but him, but she was too worried to even think and any comfort helped her. Within moments crying rang out in the room "The first one is born, its a boy!" A doctor exclaimed and started tending to the tiny baby.

"The other one is becoming distressed and it doesn't feel to be in birthing position, we need to operate to get it out!" Another doctor exclaimed "The baby's life is at risk, so is yours Mrs McVie"

"Do what you have to do to get the baby out, I don't care about me, just save the baby!" She cried, exhausted from birthing the first one.

"You will be alright!" John soothed and Barbara did her best to keep her calm, Stevie was worried sick, the baby was so tiny and the doctors were fussing over it so much, she worried something was wrong with it.

"We need to operate now, the baby is losing oxygen!"  a doctor exclaimed and wheeled Christine off into surgery. John, Barbara and Stevie following but were stopped "Only one of you are allowed in!" A doctor said and then looked at Christine.

"I want Barbara!" Christine cried, reaching out at her, because she really wished her own mother was there and Barbara was a lot like her.

"I'm right here sweetheart!" Barbara cooed and went into the room with her, taking hold of her hand.

"I'm her husband, I should be in there with her, their my babies!" John exclaimed annoyed.

"Go be with our son!" Christine cried "I don't want him alone!"

John nodded and understood, soon walking back into the hall with Stevie who was speechless still, all the others were in the hall worried too.

"How is she?" asked Mick frantic.

"They are operating to get the other baby out, one is being cared for by the staff, John and I are going back in to it!" Stevie stuttered, tears flooding down her face.

"You should be resting to Stevie or you could go into early labour as well!" Robin exclaimed, wrapping her arm around her friend.

"I need to help John with their baby, its so small, what if it dies, what if Christine dies? This is all my stupid fault!" Stevie cried into Robin's chest as she hugged her.

"Poor Christine!" Lindsey frowned, rubbing his hand through his head, he was still distraught himself and felt numb.

Mick shot John an angry glance, still blaming him more than Stevie and it just made John feel worse.  He gulped and went back in the room walking over to the medical staff and his son "How is he, can I hold him?" He asked.

"He needs certain caring for before he can be held, he is only 33 weeks old, he has low birth weight and could have other complications we don't know of yet!" The woman explained who was caring for him.

"I cant even hold my own son, what's wrong with him?" John asked angrily, angry with himself and the whole situation.  Everything had been going so good, even if he had felt bad over sleeping with Stevie, him and Christine had been going along perfectly.

"He's premature and needs to be taken to NICU, once your wife is out of surgery, if she is alright, we need her to express her milk.   The babies will be too small to feed from her yet, but her milk will help them!" The woman explained and John nodded, everything looked so bleak to him, he was beyond worried and blamed himself as he looked at his tiny son, panicking inside about Christine and the other baby.
