It had been two weeks since Remus died. Roman had locked himself up in his room to the point where only Patton could go in to give him food. Dee had left a few days after the incident, still looking for the hunter that took his wings.
Patton sighed as he closed Roman's door.
"How is he?" Virgil asked from the living room where he was curled into Logan's side.
"He's getting a little better. I managed to make him smile a little." Patton said.
"He will be okay." Logan reminded them, "he just needs time to heal and grieve."
Patton nodded. The doorbell rang, making everyone jump slightly.
"I'll get it." Patton whispered.
The fairy opened the door to find a boy about twelve years old. Patton blinked in surprise.
"Hey kiddo, what are you doing here?" Patton asked.
"I'm looking for Roman." He said.
"Oh, um," Patton stammered, "What's your name kiddo?"
"Thomas." The boy said, "Roman is my uncle. My dad, Remus, told me to find him if he didn't come home."
"Oh, well, come on in Thomas, I'll get Roman." Patton said, leading the boy into the living room.
"Uh, Dad?" Virgil asked, "Who's that?"
"This is Thomas," Patton introduces the boy, "he's Remus' son, and Roman's nephew."
"Oh..." Virgil whispered.
"I'll get Roman." Patton said quietly.
The fairy walked to Roman's room, knocking before opening the door.
"Ro?" Patton whispered, "there's someone here looking for you."
"I don't care." Came the reply.
"He said he's Remus' son." Patton told him.
Roman slowly sat up, "... I don't want to leave me room."
Patton smiled lightly, "I'll send him in."
Roman nodded. Since when did Remus have a son? Though it didn't surprise Roman at all.
"Roman?" A young voice said.
The shapeshifter lifted his head to see a boy standing in his doorway.
"Greetings." Roman said, managing a small smile, "What's your name?"
"Thomas." The boy walked over to the bed, "my dad said to look for you if he didn't come home. Do you know why he didn't come home?"
Roman sighed and nodded, "he... He was killed by a hunter."
"Oh." Thomas started tearing up, "h-how did you know him?"
Roman smiled sadly, "he was my brother."
Roman looked up to see Thomas with tear streaks down his cheeks.
"Come here." Roman pulled the boy into a hug, letting him cry.
"I-I miss my dad." Thomas sobbed.
"I do too." Roman whispered, "but... it's okay. He wouldn't have wanted us to cry for him."
Thomas nodded into Romans shoulder. Roman closed his eyes and held the boy tighter.
"Hey," Roman whispered with a small smile, "You know what always cheers me up?"
Thomas shook his head, wiping tears from his cheeks.
"Patton's chocolate chip cookies." Roman said, "I think he made some yesterday, would you like to go get some?"
Thomas giggled a little, "sure."
Roman smiled and stood up from the bed, taking Thomas' hand, "Alright, let's go get some cookies."
