Chapter Eleven

Virgil's P.O.V.

I was afraid. Afraid of what I would find when we walked to the rooms. Afraid of whatever Thomas did to save me. I know that he chose me because I was more familiar with this stuff. It was awful being paranoia. I couldn't stand even thinking about it, bit whatever he did.....was not worth it. Not at all...

We headed to Patton's room in silence. We stopped in front of the black door

Happiness.... You didn't have to change Patton. You were so amazing the way you were. You're not the same as who you used to be. Why....  I guess to be fair, I'd have to answer that same question...

I took deep breaths and looked over to see that Thomas was doing the same. We knocked on Patton's door and waited. He opened the door pretty fast, and I had to mask the panic, though I knew Thomas's could sense it. I looked into his black eyes, as the white stars stared right on back.

" P-Patton.... "

" Thomas and my dark strange son! What brings you guys here? "

" Patton, we came to.... Talk..... May we come in? " Thomas, ever too polite, even in this situation, asked slowly.

" Sure kiddos! What's up? I've been thinking about video ideas, But that kinda made me look back on our old ones, and I ended up binging the while series! Isn't that funny? "

" um, w- "

" I thought so, well anyways, what brings you here? Were you waving to hang out? We don't do that often enough! We should hang out more! "

I looked at Thomas, and saw in his eyes that he was just as worried and  anxious as I was. We walked in and sat down on the couch that looked like Thomas's.

" Patton. " Thomas looked at him seriously.

" Is there something wrong, kiddo? " He still had that smile on his face, but.... Something really creeped me out about it.....

" We need you back, Patton! " I yelled suddenly.

He stared at me for a few seconds.

" But now I'm happier, and we can have so much fun! Wanna look through some stuff with me? "

" No. We need Patton back. The real one. We don't like this one. "

" We need Morality back! "

I could see tears in his eyes, but the smile stayed. He gave a small, goofy chuckle and shook his head. " Well, im sorry kiddos, but he's not coming back. "

" We need your help! "

He looked at me questioningly.

" We can't do it without you. "

" but I'm right he- "

" No. " Thomas said sternly. " the real you. Not who you've become. "

" There is something wrong with Logan and Roman. "

" W-what? What's wrong are they okay? " There was worry in his eyes.
" I-if they need me, I've gotta get back, how do I- "

there was a blinding bright blue light, and when I could open my eyes again, Patton was slumped down onto the floor.

Me and Thomas raced to His side. We  looked at each other hopefully, as my hand reached a the gray fabric around his shoulders.

" What .... What happened? " Patton looked up at me with sadness written across his face. No more star eyes. No more freaky smile. I never thought I'd be happy to see him without a smile on his goofy little face.

We explained to him what had just happened, as he looked at the floor, the memories flooding back.

" I.... I-I'm so.... So sorry...... I just wanted to be better...... I wanted to be happy...... It was hard to mask the sadness, and if I'm sad.... Who will cheer everyone up? "

I looked at him in understanding.
" Hey, it's not your job to always be happy. Your job is to be Thomas's morality. It's okay to feel sad. We can get along, you need to focus on yourself for a change. And make yourself happy. "

" but making you happy is what makes me happy... "

" and you being happy.... Actually happy.... Is what makes us happy. " Thomas said. He gave us a smile. His smile...... Then it faltered.

" What happened with Logan and Roman? "
