My eyes opened slowly, before I blinked, rubbing my eyes. I looked over at Paul, who was sleeping silently behind me, his arms wrapped around my waist. I smiled softly, reaching over and stroking his dark hair.
He groaned, and buried his face deeper in the pillow. I rolled my eyes, stroking his cheek gently as his eyes opened; Paul smirked at me.
"You look tired." He had a smug look on his face, making me think about what happened last night.
My face immediately went red, and I turned away, "Yea well, you aren't a pretty princess either." I grumbled, about to sit up when he pulled me closer.
"5 more minutes?" His hot breath tickled the back of my neck, and I sighed.
"Fine." I maneuvered my body so that I was facing him, and he gave me an enchanting smile.
----
When I woke up again, Paul wasn't in the bed with me. I sat up, stretched, and yawned. I looked over at my white dresser and saw a note.
"Hey baby, we slept in longer than I thought we would. Sam wanted me to be at Emily's by 8am. I'm sorry I left you all alone in that bed of yours, don't worry, I'll be back later.
Yours truly, Paul."
I snorted at the 'yours truly' part, but I thought it was cute that he had left me a note. I let the note fall out of my hand as I started to change.
I walked down the stairs, fully dressed and cleaned. Charlie was at work of course, which kind of upset considering I rarely see him. I went over to the fridge, and pulled out an apple, ignoring the leftover cake.
I once again plopped down on the couch, and began to eat my apple. I was silently watching Greys Anatomy, when the phone rang, making me jump, and in the process dropping my red apple.
I sighed, quickly picking up my apple and setting it down as I trotted towards the receiver. I picked it up, and once again the call scared me. Not a bad scare, but like a panicky scare.
"Summer? Summer! Bellas in labor, get down here--" The line cut out, and I again was left there with my eyes wide and full of panic. Of course Paul was gone, how was I supposed to get there?
My teeth were grinding against each other, as I thought of what to do. Then someones face popped into my mind, and I quickly dialed his number.
He answered quickly, "Hello?"
"Jasper, I need to be there!" I called out, desperately trying to find a way.
Jasper seemed to understand, "I'll be there as fast as I can." He seemed to joke, even though I was in no mood to joke.
A few minutes after the call had ended, there was a knock at the door. I walked, and when I say walked, I mean sprinted to the door. Jasper was standing there, his eyebrows furrowed.
He gave me a quick smile, before lifting me off the ground and into his arms. This was the first time i've ever been carried by a vampire, and the other difference was that he was cold, which isn't surprising.
Vampires and werewolves seemed to be rivaling each other when it came to speed, Jasper was extremely fast and so was Paul.
I pushed all of the comparisons aside, and my mind flew to Bella. She could die on that damn delivery table, but I must keep my faith in Edward. He knew what he was doing, and if he wasn't, Carlisle would be there.
----
We arrived at the house, and Jasper seemed to pull me inside. He looked at me, with a sad and concerned look in his eyes, "I smell blood, be careful." Was all he said before turning away from where the smell was coming from.
Emmet, Alice, and Rosalie were all huddled together. Rose was held securely in Alices arms, and Emmet had his head down. Before I could think about them anymore, there was a scream coming from the study, and my stomach tied in a knot. I didn't seem to realize that Esme wasn't in that room with the rest.
I made my way to the study, and the sight I saw almost made me turn away right then and there. Bella was laying on her back, her belly was cut open, and Edward was currently bent down towards it.
I opened the door, and reluctantly entered. The first one to catch my gaze was Jacob. His eyes held fear, worry, sadness, and hope. He broke my gaze and continued to stroke Bellas hand.
Bella was in excruciating pain, I could just see it on her face. She was still screaming bloody murder, and I felt really terrible. She was my sister, and all I wanted to do was cradle her in my arms like I used to when we were kids.
I soon heard crying, and I was knocked back to reality. There it was, that little monster that was killing Bella, from the inside out. I made my way next to Jacob, and grabbed Bellas hand.
I could feel her heartbeat, it was slow, and not at a normal pace. My eyebrows furrowed, but before I could say anything, Edward showed the baby to Bella. A small smile formed on her lips, but there was a crunch, and Edward pulled the baby away.
Jacobs nose twitched, and just as I was about to tell Edward that it was time, I felt her heart stop beating. My eyes went wide and Edward already seemed to know. He quickly picked up a giant syringe, and stabbed it in her lungs.
"Whats that?" Jacob asked, his voice panicked.
"My vemon." Edward said, but when the vemon didn't work for a couple of seconds, he started to press down on her chest, trying to resuscitate her.
I let go of Bellas hand, and stood back, my eyes dropped to the floor as I waited. Jacob said something to Edward, and walked out.
"Come on baby, come on." His voice was full of pain and heartbreak, I couldn't handle it. I too walked out of the room, leaving Edward alone with the now dead Bella.
Jacob stormed out of the house, and I followed after him.
"Jake!" I called out and he stopped, right at the edge of the forest. He looked back at me, and soon fell to his knees, tears streaming down his face.
I made my way over to him, and pulled him into an embrace, tears falling freely from my eyes. Jake wrapped his arms around me tightly, and cried in my shoulder.
I heard another voice from the trees, "She didn't make it..." I didn't even care who it was, time seemed to stop for me.
Bella was dead.
