She pulls up to the police station, her eyes red from the lack of sleep and crying. She wipes her eyes as she looks behind her, seeing the SUV parked about a mile down. She notices an officer approach and knock on her window, so she rolls it down, sniffling. "I need help. That guy behind me, or those people in that SUV, they've been following me for miles. I was the one who called and I need help." She rambles, rubbing her eyes.
"Alright. Here, I'm going to escort you into the building. Two officers will handle them." He says and helps her out of the car. The officer rests one of his hands on his gun, wrapping his other arm around the girl. He was quite old, maybe in his late fifties to mid sixties. He radioed two other officers to check in on the black SUV, since they were coming from that way anyway.
"Thank you." She mutters and follows him in, wrapping her arms around himself. He leads her into an office, where a detective joins them after.
"I'm Wayne Unser, the chief here. And that's Detective June Stahl. What's your name, dear?" The older man asks her, as he sits down at his desk.
"That's the problem, I don't know." She says and pulls her hair back. "I don't know anything, I can't even remember how I remembered that I lived here."
Unser nods understandingly, "Can you remember everything else or is that it?"
"That's it."
"Okay, so what we're going to do is a DNA test on you and do some fingerprinting, all right?" The detective speaks up, sitting down next to the girl. "We'll find out who you are and we'll find out who did this to you."
"Okay, thanks." She mutters softly.
"The DNA test will take about forty eight hours to come back, as a maximum. Twenty four hours at the most. So once we do that, Detective Stahl is going to ask you some questions." Chief Unser speaks, looking down at the girl.
She just nods in response, nodding again as they take her into another room with an officer who does the DNA testing. Once they were done with the testing and fingerprinting, they bring her back into the first room and sit her down.
Stahl starts recording the conversation, even though Unser is taking notes.
"Do you when you were kidnapped?"
"I think it was years ago, but I can't remember anything else."
"Do you remember what the building or place looked like?"
"No."
"Do you remember names and what these people looked like? Even genders?"
"There were like.. all guys. I think they were uhm, Mexicans. I just remember them all swearing and calling each other mean things.. there were like two women. I think there was someone named Easy. I can't remember any pronunciations.." she speaks, rubbing her head. "I'm really trying to remember, I'm sorry."
"It's alright, darling. Take your time and if need be, we can go back to a previous questions." Stahl smiles at her and gently rests a hand on her shoulder.
"You're most likely in shock. We can come back another time if you can remember. We just want this to be easy on you." Unser responds as he jots down notes.
"I uhm, I think.."
"Here, how about we take a break and you think about it for a little while." Unser responds, "We can do this another day too."
"Alright." She mutters and nods, her green eyes scanning over the police chief and detective.
"Have you eaten recently?" Stahl asks her, looking over at her. She frowns when she shakes her head. "Alright, I'll take you down to the cafeteria to get you some food. Come on."
Unser smiles at the two and continues to take down notes, dialing a phone number as the two leave the room.
A couple hours later, they were all finished with questioning and she was sitting down on a bench outside the office. The door open and outsteps Unser, sitting on the bench next to her. "Here's what we're going to do, okay? We're going to send two officers to stay with you, one inside and the other outside. And then we're going to call them and have them bring you in for your results."
"Okay." She nods and stands up, looking over at the Chief as he stands up. "Thank you very much."
"Call if you need anything, alright?" Unser responds and smiles.
"Will do." She says and then walks with the two officers out and to her car. "I guess I'll just call myself Emily until the results come back." She mutters to the cops.
"Makes it easier," One responds and Opens the car door for her. "I'm Officer Lucas Raegan. You can just call me Luke, I suppose we'll be spending a lot of time together until the assailants get arrested."
"I'm Officer Lindsay Barnes. Pleasure to meet you, Emily." She smiles, "You'll be safe as long as we're around."
"Thank you guys." She manages to smile and climbs into her car, starting it. "So you guys can just follow me."
"Of course." Lindsay smiles and tosses the keys to Lucas, walking to the passenger side of the cruiser.
Lucas waves to Emily as he gets in the cruiser and starts it up. "We'll be right behind you." He assures her.
Emily nods and takes off, gripping her steering wheel tightly as she drives to her house. Once she gets there, she immediately parks her car in the driveway and waits for the officers to pull in before she gets out.
As soon as they pull in, she gets out and closes and locks her car, then heads up to the front door with her new security guards following her. "Welcome to my home. There's a guest bedroom that I'll show you. You can help yourselves to anything, since that's all I can do to return the favor." Emily says and smiles, opening the door and letting them inside.
"You don't need to repay the favor, this is our job and we love it." Lindsay smiles at her. "Nice place, a lot better than mine."
"Really? I thought it was pretty small." Emily giggles and shows them around the house, then to the spare bedroom. "I don't know what's going to happen, but I know you both are going to need sleep."
"We're going to end up taking shifts." Luke says and smiles at her. "Oh shit. I gotta get the dog."
"Dog?" Emily asks, raising her eyebrows as she leans on the wall.
"My German Shepherd. I have no one to take care of him. You're not scared of dogs, are you?" Luke asks concerned, looking over at Emily.
"Absolutely not!" Emily smiles and looks over at Luke.
"Hey, I'll swing by your place and pick up some clothes." Luke says to Lindsay, taking her house keys.
"Cool, thanks." Lindsay responds and smiles.
Emily liked the two officers and having them around, but she hoped that the kidnappers would be caught soon. She couldn't live her life without a cop trailing her.
"Alright, we're going to be fine." Lindsay says as Luke leaves. "Do you know how to shoot a gun?"
"No, not at all.."
"Have this just in case."
