Chapter 40

Chloe's POV

"Really? So 'yon ang plano nila?" I asked Jeff.

"Pero masyadong risky eh." Sagot niya.

"So anong plano natin ngayon? I know that the authorities are doing their bests to find my friend pero we just can't sit here and wait for nothing!" I'm really worried.

"I have a feeling na may kinalaman si Gilbert sa mga nangyayari. I can feel it." He took his phone from his pocket and dialed a number.

"H..hello? Gilbert? Nasaan ka? Inom tayo!" Muntik na akong mapatalon nang marinig kong magsalita si Jeff. He's his cousin! Finally sumagot na siya!

"Hey hey where are you going? I wanna

please isama mo ako!" I hold Jeff's arms.

"I'm sorry Chloe but it's very dangerous. Ako na ang bahala dito. I will also coordinate with the authorities para matulungan ako." Sabi niya.

"Please mag ingat ka!" I said.

Umalis na si Jeff. He left me here worrying about my bestfriend and him.

"Miss Chloe may naghahanap po sa inyo." Napalingon ako sa nagsalita.

"Jake?" I was shocked when I saw Jake standing near the door.

"I'm sorry to bother you. I just wanted to ask kung nandito ba si Jeff?" He looks so calm but I can see the anger in his eyes.

"Sorry. Kakaalis lang ni Jeff." Sagot ko sakaniya.

"Ganon ba? Sige, thank you." Tumalikod na siya.

"Wait!" He paused.

"Si Gilbert." Bulong ko.

"I know. I know Chloe. Thanks." At dali-dali siyang umalis.

Kung ganon ay kilala na niya kung sino ang kumuha kay Kyle. Pero bakit? Ano bang naging kasalanan ni Kyle kay Gilbert para gawin niya 'to sa kaibigan ko. Jeff's hurt with what happened between Kyle and him pero I don't think that's the only reason.

"The reason is yet to be discovered." I said and went up to my room.

Jeff's POV

I can feel the tension while driving. I wasn't really expecting Gilbert to do such heartless thing to Kyle. I do admit that I was hurt, big time 'yon 'cause I have been pursuing Kyle for a long time now pero he chose him pa rin over me. Ano ba namang laban ko 'don diba? Mahirap kalabanin ang first love. It's true that in his mind he wants to forget about him pero ibahin mo yung puso. Yung puso ang hindi nakakalimot.

"Please be fine Kyle." I whispered. Please be safe Kyle, I will rescue you from Gilbert.

Nabaling ang atensyon ko nang tumawag si Gilbert. Nanlalamig ang kamay ko. Gilbert has become an older brother to me. Hindi ko man siya totoong kapatid but still he was always there lalo na sa mga panahon na wala akong makausap dahil busy ang lahat.

"Hello?"

(Dude? Saan ka na? How 'bout dumiretso ka nalang sa bodega ni tito Kirk)

"Talaga? Sige. I will bring liquor." I said then I ended the call.

So doon nila dinala si Kyle ha. I immediately called the police, I coordinated with them and requested na ako muna yung paunahin sa loob at 'wag sumugod unless I give the signal kasi baka masaktan si Kyle.

Nasa loob ako ng kotse pero nararamdaman ko na pinagpapawisan ang kamay at paa ko.

I can say na pinagplanohan talaga ni Gilbert ang lahat dahil dito niya talaga dinala si Kyle. The place is an old bodega of my tito's business, 10 years ago they moved to a bigger place kaya naman ginawang tambayan ng mga tao.

"Finally, my best cousin is here!" Gilbert is walking towards me, holding a beer and obviously he's drunk.

"Lasing ka na." I said with my normal tone.

"Napakasungit mo naman." Smooth, I'm sure na hindi siya nakakahalata.

"Bakit ka nandito sa bodega ni tito?" I asked.

"At isa pa, you didn't answer my question. Why are you drunk? Maaga pa ah. Are you celebrating something or what?" Nasa labas pa rin kami. Ayokong magmadali baka makahalata siya.

"I'm celebrating of course because for how many years nakaganti din ako sa putanginang 'yon!" Then he laughed. So it's true. He is the suspect.

"What do you mean?" I raised a brow.

"Oo nga pala! I have a gift for you! Come with me sa loob may ipapakita ako sayo. I'm sure that you'll be happy when you see it." Hinila niya ako papasok.

Nanlalamig ako. I can't believe he can do such heartless thing.

"How could you?" That's the signal. I saw Kyle. Unconsciously sitting on a chair, hands and feet tied. My heart hurts when I saw his wounds and bruises.

"Isn't it amazing?" It all happened too fast. Nakita ko nalang si Gilbert sa sahig hawak ang panga niya.

"Bro ba—"

"Fuck you! Bakit mo nagawa sakanya 'to? Wala ka bang puso?" I shouted at him. I can't control my self. Sinipa ko siya, sinuntok. Hindi ko na siya kilala eh, hindi na siya yung mabait at responsible na pinsan ko.

Nagulat siya nang bumukas ang pinto at pumasok ang mga police. They picked him up and brought him to the precinct.

Tinulungan ko ang medics para kunin si Kyle. Everything is happening really fast.

"Thank you." I received a back hug from someone.

"Chloe..." I faced her and started crying. Nasasaktan ako hindi lang dahil sa nangyari kay Kyle pero pati na rin ang nangyari sa pinsan ko.

"Tinuring ko siyang kapatid."
