As we walked out into the lush jungle we had our helmets on our packs and we both already started sweating. His blonde hair stuck to the side of his face and my silver hair stuck everywhere on my face. I shrugged my shoulders and we walked around back of The ship and headed to the trail that they all took earlier.

It was a long walk and we both had to take a break after about an hour so we decided on a spot and slumped down facing each other against two trees.

I smiled and laughed at him. "So does Rayven know that technically she's a zombie?" I asked. He shook his head, his eyes kind of glazed over.

"No. And she's not a zombie man, I brought her back to life and can't control her."

"Ah," I said. "So you are basically just a max healer." He looked at me with a smirk and flipped me off and I returned the gesture.

"What about you man? You don't know anything about your power/gift whatsoever. What's up with that?" He asked.

I shook my head in defeat and threw my hands up in the air in exasperation. "I don't know man," I said. "I wish I knew what it was or I wish I was helpful. I mean clearly everyone who jumped on board the ship for the Departure had some gift. Maybe I just can't use it here on Nexanveer." I said referring to the planet sized moon we were on.

"Who knows?" He said once again kind of gazing off in the distance. We both went silent drinking from our bottles and then heard a loud crack of thunder, or that's what it sounded like. Kai and I both looked up to the sky and stared at the red and black storm clouds getting darker near us and we both agreed, it was time to go.

I chewed the inside of my cheek as I walked and looked back at the clouds, a bad habit of mine. As we were walking i heard a roar and smacked Kais shoulder giving him the signal to run. We both wasted no time hauling through the jungle, which was quickly drying out and becoming woods.

As we were running I heard a loud thumping and crashing sound behind us and I quickend my pace even faster than before, if that was possible. I felt my heart hammering against my chest and my breathing got heavier and heavier the further I ran, Kai ahead of me. We were both sweating like hell, the swear slinging off of our bodies as we ran and eventually the trees were all just dead corpses.

We were running through what looked like a wasteland with hundreds of trees, almost all of them dead. There were a few shrubs here and there, especially where the woods and dead trees met.

As we ran further through the wasteland I noticed the Earth was cracked and dried and there were a few mountains here and there, and I had assumed we met the desert. Captivated while running and trying to survive I tripped and fell, stumbling on the ground. Kai rushed back to help me up but it was all a second to late as another huge, four armed, two legged beast with no eyes and shark jaws and basically bat ears thrashed out of the woods snapping at least 10 giant trees with it.

It landed on all six legs with a thud, shaking the ground as it did. I shook it's head violently and then snapped it towards us. Drool was pouring out of its mouth and as it hit the ground it sizzled as if it were acid and burnt the Earth.

Kai was staring at the creature his grey eyes wide as could be and he pulled me up to my feet as I heard him utter the words, "Hell No."
I pushed him back and we both started to run again and it tore into the Earth pummeling after us at top speed, leaving a trail of acid scorching the cracked Earth in it's wake.

As we ran the air around us got chilly and I slowed down in confusion, yet continued running, for i didn't want to die. I turned around and yanked Kai's shoulder turning him around as well to look at the sight I saw happening behind us. It explained the chill on my skin and why we slowed down and why there was no more roaring.

Behind us there was someone else, about average male height around 6 feet to 6'2. But that wasn't the odd part. They had a long kind of trench coat that was wide open and flapping as they ran across the Earth, straight towards the creature. They had jeans and boots and vest like Mine and Kai's and some kind of mask but that was it, they didn't seem fazed by the monster at all.

The mask covered their whole face, it was like one of the gas masks you would see SWAT use or something, two giant eyes and two breathing cups on either side. But instead of inhaling air, the mask was pumping out air and then what happened next made our jaws drop like cement bricks.

The person jumped up and seemed to be climbing the air like steps to get to the monsters face and then I realized they were climbing. Every step they made, somehow, underneath their foot was an ice platform. Then the stranger jumped and landed on the creatures head pressing their hands onto the side of the beast's face and caused a thick layer of ice to freeze the monsters mouth shut completely. They repeated the action to the ears and then before I knew what was happening the procured a sword made of ice and plunged it into the side of the monsters skull.

The hulking beast swayed a second with the stranger on its head before it completely crashed sideways onto the ground shaking the Earth and bleeding out, it's blueish blood filling the cracks. The man walked towards us and signaled us to follow him and after what we saw I'm pretty sure Kai agreed we didnt have any choice. Either he'd kill us or something else would.

As we followed him I noticed the back of his coat said something in faded out swirly huge letters. It said, "Welcome to The Wasteland! Enjoy Your Stay!" And it was at that point I realized I might as well have been in a Mas Max movie.
