I looked at Cyrus in confusion and he sighed. "Basically I am, me, as in Cyrus, I'm a good guy, I guess you'd say. But when I fully unleash my powers, Ember, my alter ego, comes out. And he is...not so good. Ember is pure evil basically and that's why I barely used my powers. The more I use them, the more he comes out and takes control. But Halcyon has helped me to control him, and now I can use my powers more without him. I can also now talk to him more." He said as I looked at him.
I leaned back against the wall and looked at Halcyon then back at him and nodded sighing. "Okay." I said finally, in confirmation. "I'm allowing you to come back to the ship and the group- but not just yet. You're gonna have to wait a while, and a few people are gonna have to see you down here first before you're allowed back. " They both nodded at me and smiled, clearly happy. I hoped I had made the right decision.
As we finished talking, about pretty much everything really, we decided it was time for me to head back out. I stood up and they both lead me out the tunnel to the mouth of the cave, which was surprisingly well hidden by thick overgrowth and woods. As we made our way out they pointed me in the direction to go and I said goodbye, heading up through the forest back to the ship.
I stomped through the forest making my way back to the ship. Eventually I stumbled into the elevator and ripped off my helmet. I sighed as it started up, and I could hear barely anything in the room. Soon enough the doors opened and I walked in, seeing everybody at the centre holographic globe. They were all slumped over, Rayven and Memphis at the table with Beckett. Zeke, Atlas and Kai were all standing around behind the others.
"Hey. Why does everybody look so glum and down? We aren't living here forever you know?" They all immediately shot up at my voice and ran towards me, Memphis tackling and hugging me first. She never let go of me, clutching me tightly and crying into my shoulder. "I thought- I thought I had lost you." She cried. The others joined in hugging me and finally we all broke away.
I sat down in a chair in front of the giant holographic globe and sighed. I broke it down and explained to everyone what had happened, from the swarm, to almost dying in the canyon, to finally the cave and the whole Cyrus/Ember situation, to which everyone listened contently.
As I got done I saw Beckett brush his black hair out of his literally icy blue eyes thinking very deeply and I knew what he was thinking about.I pulled him to the side and sat down behind the globe looking out at the sky with him. "Look at it." I said, leaning back next to him. He nodded and smiled. "What do you think? Should we take him back? I mean, being completely honest, we're going to need all the help we can get to get off of here. We can keep him under lock and have at least two people watching him at all times." I said.
At this point Beckett was just as close to me as Kai, and he was even moreso philosophical and tactical than both of us.He looked at me and the smile faded to a more serious look. "We can take him back in, and we'll have everyone watch him. But you're right. We will need him, or at least his help to get off of here. We have to start preparing now, for him, and to get moving." I nodded slowly standing up with him and walking back to the center of the main control room.
As I got to the center I looked at everyone before I dropped the bomb.
"Im bringing Cyrus back." I said finally, watching a few faces drop a bit. "But," I continued, "There's a plan. First of all, he's one of the things we need for our only way off. Secondly we'll have him under lock and key. Me, Beckett and Atlas will all be watching him. Zeke, Kai, you will watch over us and Memphis, Rayven and Halcyon. We've got this alright?"
Everyone looked at me and nodded and I nodded back I confirmation."We're going to go to the little town Kai and I saw first, and then we'll find another place to set up. And then, to the city and finally, off. Everybody get ready, we have a week." I said finally
defusing the crowd and taking one last look at Beckett, staring out of the window, before I grabbed Memphis's hip and went to our room.As we were in there I took off my shirt and looked at myself in the mirror. I looked rough. I had bruises everywhere from being slammed against the canyons wall so many times, cuts from falling and stunning through the horde of birds, and I was covered in dirt and grime. I looked like utter hell. But on the plus side, I didn't have to shave.
I brushed my silver hair out of my eyes and looked in the mirror as I chewed my cheek in thought. As I was distracted I felt two soft and smooth hands on my shoulder, rubbing work their way down my chest and sides and then eventually to my waist where my groin was. I let out a sigh and leaned my head back as Memphis took off my clothes and lead us both to the shower. I turned on the hot water and let it pour down, rushing and cascading over our bodies, cleansing us, specifically me, of everything that's gone on these past few days.
As we got out kissing each other, we made our way to the bed, on which we collapsed. That night, I slept and dreamt of the town, just over the hill. The Town where we would start moving forward.
