So the gap wasnt really the problem. The problem was the ground underneath it had erupted into spiked stones and we were about thirty feet up so, If we fell, it doesnt matter how good our armor is, we die. With this is mind we all looked at each other and back at the door again.
"So. Uh....any volunteers?" I asked hesitantly.
"Sure. I'll go." Said Kai, stepping up to the door. I guess he wasnt scared since hes a Necromancer basically but still. Good for him.
As he looked at the other door and the gap he nodded before stepping back. Next, he pulled a pistol out and shot the handle of the other door, slowly making it swing open. Then without any warning he ran and jumped across the gap landing in the other building without a scratch.
I released a breath I didnt know I had been holding and laughed jumping in as well, followed by Beckett, then Memphis, Rayven, Zeke, Atlas, and finally Halcyon. Finally Cyrus jumped across and landed safely.
"Wow." He said. "That was alot easier than I thou-" Before he could finish, a dark thin hand wrapped around his throat and choked him, slowly dragging him down to the ground. Though we couldn't see what it was, it had tendrils of inky darkness around his legs and arms as well and was slowly tightening.
Just as it seemed he was about to fall out of the window, Cyrus grabbed one of the tendrils and his hand went almost neon orange with flames, lighting the monster on fire. He then proceeded to light his entire body on fire as well, burning everything except his vest, and boots. Luckily, Rayven had designed a fireproof suit that was also extremely durable for him, so he had that on too.
As he lit up, he lit up the whole room as well, and scorched the monster, foames pouring out of his eyes and mouth, his hair licks of white flames. As he got free he fell to his knees and Halcyon rushed over to him, holding him tightly as the flames died out, and his dark blond hair went back to normal.
He stood up and nodded at me, signaling to go on, and grabbed his backpack from off the floor where he threw it. I nodded back at him and shined my light on the door in front of us, opening it, and pushing on.
As I did, we walked into a hallway of sorts, but it wasn't like apartments or anything. It was almost sort of, like a buisness, once again. This one had rooms on either side and a set of stairs leading up at the end of the hallway, to my left.
I shined my light on the hallway and took in everything. There were two doors on both sides, and one on the left, and one on the right, was open.
I walked out and pressed myself flat against the plain wall, as Kai did the same to the wall opposite of me. Zeke went over to Kai, and Beckett came next to me.Slowly, we started inching our way to the open doors. As I got to mine, I spun around and ran in, tucking into the wall. I looked around and sighed in relief. There was nothing in here except a shelf, a desk, and a couple of chairs.
"Well. That was a close one." I said laughing as I rested against the wall.
Before anyone could react two huge hands burst through the wall and yanked me through into the other side. I flew across the room and hit the wall with a crack and a groan."Spoke too soon huh?" I questioned.
The hybrid was mixed with what seemed to be a crocodile and he just growled at me as I stood up. I sighed and cracked my neck before he charged at me, jumping out of the way at last minute. I quickly grabbed a chair and threw it at him causing him to pause for a second before standing on the desk and jump kicking him in the face.
"Hey Rhent...you okay in there?" I heard Kai call from across the hall.
"Yea..just give me a minute. I be out in a sec." I said in exasperation.
As I stood up I faced the hybrud who was now back on his feet again. He swing at me and I ducked, upercutting him as I came up again.
He stumbled back and I flicked my wrist, slipping the blade out of the gauntlet and crouching down, slicing his stomach open, before kicking him out of the window and hearing him splatter onto the ground.I took a deep breath and let it out, walking over to the door and opening it. As I did I doubled over and looked down the hall to see everyone staring at me as I brushed the silver curtain away from my face. "What? I'm okay." I stated before standing up.
I looked at the stairs to my left and raised my hand signaling them to come follow me.
We made our way up one flight of stairs, and after looking at the door, I decided to go up another. We did this once more till we finally hit one last door and I just stood there looking at it.I slowly opened it, feeling a rush of air and cocked my head to the side, slightly confused. I crouched down on the top stair, everyone else following suit, and slowly pushed the door open, it slowly smacking the side of the wall. As I did I laughed and stood up, walking through it.
I smiled as I walked on the roof of this building, noticing we were in fact, on the roof. It was five stories tall, and we were on the top. I looked around taking in the surroundings. There were a few of those large vents and fans here and there, and there were a few antenna poles and just poles in general. I walked over to the edge of the building and looked back at the group and smiled.
I pointed at the pole that had a few thick black wires leading to another building about fifty feet away that had a bridge leading to a bigger one and grinned. "Who's ready for a ride?" I said, the adrenaline racing through my veins.
